When I play Ryzom, I get such string everywhere for everything (inventory, merchants, trainers, crafting, harvesting, menus, waiting and logout screen, etc.). What the hell is that? How can it be repaired?
Before you start blaming my computer, I have the latest driver, the latest DirectX, a huge hard disk, nice memory. I have an Ati Radeon 9700 Pro and I play D3 in the game without problem (I also have Windows 98SE).

It sounds to me like some of your files are corrupt.. make a backup of your /Save folder, and then run the file named "ryzom_recover.exe" in the Ryzom folder.
It will reinstall latest patch and check your current files. After it has "recovered" you should replace the /Save folder with the one you backed up.

Also, the latest drivers for your gfx-card might actually screw you up more than help you... I have a readeon card myself and had to backtrack to drivers almost one year old to get the game running at its smoothest.

Rename your UNPACK folder to UNPACK.OLD and run Ryzom_recover.exe 5 times. Then launch and patch. This will force all files to be refreshed.
You really should think about upgrading to WinXP if you have more than 512 MB as Win98 does not work well with larger amounts of RAM and large apps like Ryzom.

As for blamig my computer, this is 100% Nevrax's fault if this happening. It was there during open beta and Nevrax never corrected the bug, like some others as well. Beside, DOS is outdated, I really don't know why they use such files.
