Sorry to go off topic then. Back to the subject, and I think I am becoming more and more persuaded that actually Ryzom needs more PvP, though I've never been an advocate before. Nevrax could throw countless hours into generating tougher and tougher creatures for the players that have hit the roof and don't want to stop grinding the hunt, and that would be a never ending task. No company can hope to keep up with the players that want to race to the end. The only way to provide a challenge for them is to pit them against each other. And I suspect this may be why we've seen so little of the RAID engine. As things stand, how can a kitin invasion provide an enjoyable challenge with any possibility of success for younger characters and not be a complete walkover once a few level 250 characters show up?

I find the various flavours of PvP that have been introduced rather curious. It's frustrating not being able to heal friends and silly not being able to harm the wrong person if you're clumsy (not that I ever have difficulty hitting a plant). I think we're being given the opportunity to play with different versions of PvP to see which one actually works out the least troublesome in practice - if I were more cynical I'd say we're being used as guinea-pigs.

Seems to me though, that I hear far more complaints against PvP on the forum than I do incidents in game. Is there any game with a community more capable of rising above the "traditional" problems associated with PvP?

hey no more oneliners from me.

speaking as Mr g00st, i dunny really care about pvp at the moment as i be stuck in the world of download hell. what i think thou is the ammount of effort that is going into it from "team nevraxy" out weighs the potential uberness from it. far more needs to be done to *cough* finish fundamental parts of the game and well all the homins eventually evolve into the same "homin" and erm is there anything worth fighting for at them moment (supreme amber junk withstanding).

Where is Mabreka, dexton or the other folk? why cant we have big figureheads to fight behind, why cant the gm's lead the uber homins to go fighting (down) in a blaze of glory. maybe cos it doesnt work or the pvp doesnt fit with storyline.

This is the point. Is it a game or a story we live in, take part in and be sometimes the supernumeraries (got this from translator :D what a word :p ) ?

Here is the point of all problems and missunderstandings. Some play a game and some want to participate in a virtual movie or book.

If its a game, then i level this and that and one day i am maxed. Game somehow over... maybe i then start PvP until i get bored cause i am a looser or i get bored cause i am uberuber.

This is a problem for every Dev. Cause everybody has a right to play his service as everybody likes it. One wants to level up, explore, do some PvP and leaves for the next game. Others start and give their toons a life. They feel with them and have a long or very long term motivation. Both styles of playing are fine and have a right to exist. Exept useless offending everything is somehow acceptable in a persistant world.

Now to the war. Yes Psylo would love to have true problems that lead to a conflict. I would really like to have Goo spreading, infect animals, kitin and homin (players too) They get sick, crazy or aggressive.

Kami ask the Karavan to stop using technics., they deny. Goo is spreading more and more.. conflict escalates. Some guilds allready start to use Karavan technology on their outposts and farms... Goo is spreading more and more. The situation is about surviving or not.. now the first Kami followers start to attack and destroy outposts and farms wich contain Karavan technology.
Politicians can not solve the problems, Goo fighters can not longer keep the Goo back... a war is comming up at the horizon. Then the shiny star in the heavens.. Jena is comming back.. Karavans still belief that Jena will solve all problems. Way wrong... they come to take over the planet and remove all resources there.. a bloody war starts.... and so on and so on...

Well, Nexrax had some problems with dappers, so it looks like we play the short version. But i still belief that Nevrax is trying hard to satisfy both sides. Those who want to play and those who want to be part of the movie.

What ever comes, let other people be and play as they are and make the best out of that what fits you ingame.

as we are going over the obvious i'd like to read to you the first sentence on the box:

Four civilizations seek to tame the wild planet of Atys - A world in the crushing grip of Mother Nature on which giant insects and mysterious factions dwell amidst a bubbling ancestral war.

the war was always coming it seems.

While that may be true, does that mean the "Giant insects" have already been defeated? And if they have, it was quite the easy victory. My sincerest apoligies, but there are still many a kitin out there that needs to be dead.

And this is in addition to my first post of rambling and ranting...

Call me an idiot and I'll agree... Some people (in game of course) have mentioned that the FvF is going to occur outside of any city... regardless of location. Is this fact or fiction? While all of this may be an acclelerated version of the original intended storyline, would that also mean that the original intent of eight years (may be wrong on this, but once again too lazy to check) for the story to be fully told shortened?

And still the question remains... is this all a ill-fated attempt to make the game that we all love more "mainstream?" aka a cookie cutter copy of the majority of mmorpg's out there?
