Rubbing fur to generate static is always an option for generatin electricity. Amber works as well. We can see lightning in the sky when it's stormy on Atys too. But I don't think that's got anything to do with the magic.

For me, I've thought it's always been a part of homins. It just takes the right knowhow to manifest it. Hence why all homins can perform magic, regardless of belief. What people want to overlay on top of that, be it religion, science or mysticism, is just window dressing.

the magic and the electricity are two separate issues from the original post in this thread.. one was the source or nature of magic on Atys - and i personally dislike defining it in Dungeons & Dragons (tm) terminology - and the other was how advanced Homin technology was.

The throwaway comment I made about electricity in a world without accessible metals has spawned further debate, which is what makes forums so much fun :)
