Bugs will always happen. That's just how development of this kind of software works. Perfection isn't the goal, nor should it be. Putting valuable resources into solving the mission disappearance problem would have been a bad move. As for the enter functionality not working as it should, that is a very minor issue that absolutely should not have held back the patch release.
These "problems" indicate only one thing - the developers have their priorities in order. A MMORPG software team has to decide how to deal with limited time and very limited resources - and they have done a wonderful job with this patch.

So please anyone prove me wrong on this, point us to an example.

Re: The patch poll
I believe there's a somewhat more serious bug that I so far haven't seen mentioned yet.
I saw the same thing myself going up against a kinrey, in heavy armor and with acid protection jewelry:
"Incensed Kinrey attacks you."
"Incensed Kinrey hits you for 600 (900) damage." (normal attack)
"Incensed Kinrey hits you for 1600 (2200) damage." (acid spit)
"You have been killed by Incensed Kinrey."
However, I had a little over 2500 health at the time, meaning the acid spit must've done the full 2200 damage or it couldn't have killed me.
I decided today to test it against something safer, so I went over to Resting Water and angered a local zerx, keeping close watch on my health bar as it whacked away at me. Sure enough, whenever it spit on me my health bar would drop by 800, even though the system info said "the Roaring Zerx hits you for 340 (808) damage".
I then did the same for a nearby Stinga. In this case, the system info said "the Parched Stinga inflicts you 101 (240) magic hit points of damage", and my health would indeed drop by 100 and not by 240.
It seems thus that the new magic protections do work against normal spells, like casted by homins, primates, plants and bandits, but not against the special elemental attacks that some creatures have (goari, lumper, najab, tyrancha, yber, zerx, kincher, kinrey, kipesta, kirosta, to be precise
). I assume it's because those attacks aren't really melee attacks (since they do magic damage) but aren't really magic attacks either (since they can be dodged/parried). Still, protection against those high-damage attacks was supposed to compensate partly for the heal nerf, so I'd say this is a pretty serious bug.
Anyone else who can confirm/deny this?
(Oh, and as for the: "there are however some special attacks that are still unabsorbed, this is on purpose." I believe this is referring to the ocyx flamethrower and the jugula poison. For both of those the system info shows correctly that they are not effected by magic protection.)
Yesterday my guild was hunting zerx in Flaming Forest. Their acid spit does about 1400 damage, so our tanks wore some of the new jewelry with acid protection. This took about 600 off the spit damage, or so we thought at first. But it soon became apparent that allthough the system info said "zerx hits you for 800 (1400) damage", the attack still took 1400 out of their health.patch notes wrote: Special attacks from creatures are now absorbed by either armors for melee damages or jewels for magical damages - there are however some special attacks that are still unabsorbed, this is on purpose.

Well that's how it reads. You're suggesting with your question that the ATS has helped get Ryzom to where it is today. So I ask for proof of that. I ask for an example of where the ATS has improved things. As far as I can see, any bugs that are found on the ATS still make it in game, making the ATS pointless.ajsuk wrote:So if nobody bothered with ATS Ryzom would have come as far as it has today your saying?
So yes the Ryzom WOULD still be where it is now without the ATS. Please show me an example to disprove this statement. As I said before, I will be very glad to be proved wrong. At least then I will be able to see the point of having a test server.
I didn't suggest delaying the patch, I suggested removing that functionality from the release note until it worked. Don't release it (or in this case tell people about it) until it works. It's called Quality Control.madnak wrote:Bugs will always happen. That's just how development of this kind of software works. Perfection isn't the goal, nor should it be. Re: The patch poll
Overall I am delighted with the patch especially the new jewel plans, the first time I got 3k xp for an earring I was on such a high
My only complaint would be that despite having 4 different types of seed in game they only cover 2 types of terrain resist between them (jungle and forest iirc), I would suggest one type of seed for each terrain with pr resist coming from mob mats (as pr is a bit more specialised)
Onwards and upwards, hats off to the devs

As was said before, perfection isn't the goal. Aslong as it's nothing mojar who cares about tiny little bugs. New stuff (c word again, gah don't hit me!) is what we're after!

ATS has fixed serious bugs.. not the little ones we can live with. If it wasn't there Nevrax would have to test everything on their own, meaning more testing less fix/dev time.. = Nowhere near as far as they are now.. duh

So you don't want Nevrax to tell us what they're spending their time on?
"oh oh, hold on!! Keep waiting & paying us lots of money, we're working on SOMETHING.. can't tell you what.. cos of er.. qualitly control but.. it's SOMETHING really good for sure!!.."

They shouldn't NEED to rely on players to do their testing for them.
I'm not talking about what's in development. Try actually reading other people's post before replying. I said "release note". RELEASE.ajsuk wrote:So you don't want Nevrax to tell us what they're spending their time on?

You just don't get my point do you? Nevrax claim to do loads of testing (and to have a great test team) but they don't have any kind of quality control over those bugs. It is simply unnacceptable that a bit of non-functionality (that they have been aware of for WEEKS) made it into the release notes.
I don't call that a good test system. Simply removing that line from the relase notes until it was fixed would have sufficed. All they did was highlight yet another bug making it into a patch. A bug that wouldn't have been highlighted IF THEY DID THEIR JOB PROPERLY.
