Game load gets as far as giving me a glimpse of Thesos landscape, where I last logged, but stops short of loading people, creatures, buildings, etc and actually turning over control so I can play.

port 47851/udp is the server port, yes? and responses from server go to the client ephemeral port? or is there a nailed-up client port that needs a port-forwarding rule on the gateway device?

I've added ryzom_client_rd.exe, ryzom_recover.exe and 47851/udp to the WinXP SP2 firewall exception list on the game machine. (Funny, the game ran fine without these prior to installing the patch, and I have rebooted the game machine since installing the patch and updating the WinXP exception list)

Further testing: while connected to the game server and stalled on a screen showing the Thesos landscape, I confirmed my game machine is exchanging UDP packets with port 47851 at a server. I don't see any other traffic. What other protocols and servers should appear in the game-related traffic stream once the loading stage gets to the point of beginning to display Fyros island?

Disabling all firewalls and rebooting the game machine and the network access device have been of no help.

Ran ryzom_recover per the FAQ - no help

Did the check data - no help

Turned off firewall - no help

I can alt-tab out - task manager shows the client program using 99% of cpu constantly and not letting go.

Running out of ideas. Please fix. This is kinda messed up. People worried about this nerf or that and she can't even play anymore.

Give me something to test or try. Is there a log I should be sending?

Delete client.log and log.log then run the game.

Send the new copies of those two files to support-ee@ryzom.com and we will have a look.

The progress pics along the bottom filled in as normal and then when it filled in the final picuture, it just hung there. We let it sit for over 10 minutes and it never gets beyond this point.
I had a similar problem initially, program would either freeze or crash at the end of the loading screen. New graphics drivers solved the problem for me.

Thanks Ozric, I forgot that Nevrax may have done a few changes to the video DLLs as well as networking. So removing, rebooting and reinstalling video drivers are another thing to try. That would explain why one system worked and another did not in the very first post.

We got it working. Thanks for your help and to Shozau as well.

The key was this, when downloading the Nvidia drivers, it puts 2 directories on your PC (71.89 and 78.01). It tries to auto-run the 78.01 version. That one doesn't help. The older 71.89 does the trick.

And thanks Ozric for prodding Zerlin's memory. :)

Upgrading nVidia drivers from 71.84 to 71.89 has also resolved the issue for me. Thanks so much gang!
