Several problems with this...

First and worst is that PvP isn't optional in these zones. Players have to pass through them or need to go there for mats/levels, etc.

Another problem is that there is no room for neutrality. Someone might not want to take a part in the conflict, and if they work to keep their fame neutral... they only get penalized for it all the more by being randomly assigned a faction.

I've made a suggestion before. People with certain fames should declare themselves a crusader for their cause or choose to remain neutral and uninvolved. Giving them bonuses for being "sworn" to their side and not forcing people into unwanted and griefable gameplay.

Otherwise in a FvF battle, you could just have a Kami supporter in your Karavan team/guild and he could rez you. You'd be effectively invincible, could kill the other faction, then your Kami guild/teammate allows you to kill him. Karavan wins.
You are both right same time.

It's like two brother going to war, but different side, because they opinions are different. Does the war make it so that they aren't friends anymore? It's situational enemy situation, but that's all.

Someone having different faction, makes them enemy ONLY by that different opinion of faction. This means that different fame on kami and karavan, can make two friend to become enemy, when they are in that faction situation. Other ways they can be good friends, working together some other goals. It's like having different opinions on one subject, while some other opinions can make them friends. But when they are affected by different opions, they are also enemies in that point of view.

When two friends meet in enemy situation, it's up to them how to they behave. Very conflict situation, where it will be judge what's most important for those two friends. Will You kill You friend or not kill him, because of this different opinions.

Yes, I agree someone of the opposite faction doesn't have to be your enemy but in these zones I believe there are very rigid rules of warfare being laid out. The Kami don't want you healing your Karavan friend but they're happy for you to nuke him and vice-versa. Umbra is a looser version of this, kill anyone and heal your team/guild. PvP is optional (see other million threads) in either zone and a side-effect of this is that healing becomes more complicated.

It would be nice to turn the flag off but then the importance of faction fame is lessened/becomes meaningless.

There are two zones, the one in the Desert I know well and extends from the Sawdust Mines Kami altar in the North, down to the Karavan one in the Southd, always staying East of the road. Sawdust Mines is a q150 zone the same as Frahar Towers, neither of which are popular.

I think the Forest zone lies on the road to Grove of Confusion and it's a shorter route to go through it than round. Like many shortcuts it could contain grave danger, say in the form of Kami bandits, er I mean mercenaries.

BTW does anyone know if 'exchange' (i.e. of dapper) between factions works in these zones?

The thing is, PvP is not optional in the FvF zones.
Not even in the "You came here, than means you want to be ganked" sort of way that it apparantly is in the roots.

In the Matis forest, you HAVE to go through that zone if you want to get to the Grove of Confusion. You don't have a choice. Ain't no way 'round it. Get me?

To even remotly pretend that it is 'optional' would be a laughable farce if it didn't reflect a deep ingnorance on the part of Nevrax about how the game is actually played.

If we were on opposite sides of a political debate, and you needed help with a flat tire, I woud still help you, even if we were in a county that didn't vote for my guy for office.

Limiting who we can heal based on where we are certainly does not increase our freedom to play how we like. So what if a Karavan follower heals a Kami heretic? That is his tactical mistake. Perhaps if he gets killed by that same Kami heretic, he will learn next time.

There is a safe corridor on the East side which allows passage to the North of Matis without entering the FvF zone.

Care to explain how to get from Witherings to Lake Lands without entering a PvP zone?

Also, two brothers on different sides of the war don't start fighting just because they're in certain areas. Do they stay at home just peacefully but have to shoot at each other if they enter the city park? There is no rhyme or reason to the PvP zones. I've not even heard anyone ATTEMPT to explain it, just stretched-thin excuses of why you can get around the dozens of objections.

odd i couldnt find that little corrador to the east and i went all the way to the way around. But if its the same area i think its supposed to be then you DO realise that the whole area is covered with agro mobs and a destroyer bug right?

If the reason they want it is for Events, then they nead to make it so the GMs can turn it on and off for those, the things are way to darn incovent otherwise.
