Very glad to hear that. I never liked that you can get all HQ weapons for just getting one melee crafting branch to level 150.

Doh! didn't think to check :)

I am glad you stuck around and gave it a shot. I apologize for my negativity towards your post.

It's even more akward than that. The high quality weapons are right, with the right requirement, it's the racial ones that are messed up (all racial available when 1 branch at 150, separated in 1h , 2h etc). Depending on the scenario, it is perfectly possible to get living dagger before medium quality dagger, and so on. this has been ticketed a gazilion times since FBT, I always thought racial weapons should be at 200, and of course, one per branch. Racial weapons have become the standard, as well as high quality armors, and the game is imho, less rich.

"I'm trying it all today to make sure, but the changes have hit my char the hardest. After about an hour of play, it's all bad so far. I've had 11 months of enjoyment out of this game and would love to have 11 more. If, at the end of today it's still as bad for me, i'm afraid i'll be closing the door on this game."

After playing alot, I won't be leaving this game, just adjusting to it. Some changes are a bit too harsh like the healing nerf, but i'm sticking around. Here's to another 11 months, Cheers.

It appears that the bodocs in the desert have switched place with the arma in the jungle during the patch. I am quite positive I haven't seen this before, I don't usually pay attention but the orange bodocs look kind of out of place in the jungle, especially in low LOD from afar when they have sort of an orange outline.

Hello and good evening Miss (Mrs.?) Mulligan,

i hope you had a nice evening, for i surely didn't. I know this is quite late feedback, but it's nonetheless valid as far as i am concerned. As you may know or not, i provide the server Leanon with event logs to make it possible for those who couldn't attend to read up first-hand on what happened and also to provide accurate historical records. You might also remember that back when you began working here one of my first questions/concerns were the so called stealth-patches. You said you would work to reduce them, overall you did succeed, which makes me a bit happy, but with the last patches one particularly insidious variant of these slipped in. In short:

- All lines in the client.log and log.log are now capped at 324 characters.

Why does this matter? Back then the company hadn't implemented and provided a way to properly log chats (tho i would hesitate in calling /chatLog a proper way to do so). Thus i was forced to write my own code in order to sift through the log files and make them readable. I trusted on them to contain all the information needed and it took me several hours to get it working properly. Now these hours are completely wasted, since these files have become unsuable, due to the cap of 324 characters not being sufficient for chatlines with a maximum of 255 characters + debug info and charactername. Added to this i now have to work with /chatLog, which i will have to keep running everytime i log on in order not to miss logging interesting official or player events, which is highly uncomfortable. All this i could live with though, IF i had known of this before the events of the kami and karavan meetings.
I only found this out today while reviewing the log of the karavan announcement and when i checked back i found out that all seven eventlogs starting from "05-10-03 Mo - Ydan's Schuldfrage" are corrupted. What especially irks me is that also the kami and karavan conference logs are now corrupted and also that this only happened because of a change that was unneeded, unrequested, unexpected and most importantly: NOT IN THE PATCH NOTES.
I'm not having any illusions about this, i highly doubt they will ever become usable again, but i hope that you at least will have the time to explain this or at the very least stomp on some toes internally.

P.S.: This was the first time since launch of this game that i was genuinely and truly angry at the company Nevrax and i really had to restrict myself in order to keep this .. civil.

Xenofur, you are being silly.

client.log and log.log are system files, the company called Nevrax can do with these as they see fit and you as an inhabitant of Atys has nothing to do with these files.
When you create a 3rd party program that uses files graciously provided, as it has NOTHING to do with gameplay, it i on your acount and no warranties can or will be given by Nevrax on the future functioning of *your* programme.

You know, I once had a cat and to fill it's litterbin, I used a newspaper, they had about just the right size. At one time, the size of the newspaper was changed. I am seriously wondering how I would have been treated when sending in an angry letter telling them that now my cat would have to be tought to take his relief to a differently sized bin.
I think the reply would have been: Newspapers are for reading, not for cats to dump on.

That can be the reply here: These files are for debugging / logging, not for using in some 3rd party event program.
Relax and instead of getting angry, put your energy in working around the problem you created yourself by writing an application in the first place.

Ask the people who couldn't attend the events and also can't read up properly on them, since the logs are missing stuff, wether i am being silly or not.
Also, i'm not as much angry about the change itself, i am angry about the fact that it wasn't communicated.

(and stuff the comments about 3rd party)

To elaborate a bit, the problem doen't stem from the fact that i wrote aprogram to handle this, since i would also have to write one for the /chatLog output(which i actually did this evening, after hunting around an hour for a chatlog from another player). The problem is that the file is simply put ... broken. Even for debugging it would be completely useless, since the category tags that are at the end of each chat-line are also being cut off. ;)

I will continue arguing with you about this one.

Look at the application Saga of Ryzom as a service. A service of development, servers and events. That is what we pay for. A service that has a deliverable, being the tools and gfx to move around on this world while logged in.
The focus of SoR is the gameworld, the application that is hogging all my CPU is a tool to experience that world.
From the other way approaching same point: What is the main function of the application SoR (the CPU hogger)? It's main function is to enable my existance on Atys.

Now back to the logfiles.
Where in these main functions would I need a log file? I would need it so that whenever a user is having problems, he can contact someone who can read that logfile and can help him. The reader of the logfile is a Nevrax employee. And the logfile is in no way linked to the main function of the service pictured earlier. The logfile is meant for internal use.

Now no matter how open Nevrax is about things and how clean their communications are, they are not bound by a promise or contract outside the scope of normal game usage (the service) to keep you updated on everything they do. "Today we would like to announce we drank 15 gallons of coffe before lunch and 18 bottles of wine during lunch"
That you use a logfile for something it is not designed for, is not something you can hold anyones word against.

And stuffing about 3rd party things, are you befriended or afflicted in a commercial way with Nevrax? Do you have a contract stating you can use the logfiles for purposes for which it is not meant to be used for? If not, you usage is a form of 3rd party usage. The sole fact you consider yourself 1st party cause you wrote it has nothing to do with reality.

Next thing in the news: "Xenofur sues Nevrax over logfiles"

Summary for lazy people:
Main purpose of SoR is gfx and Atys.
Logfiles only for internal use and not main purpose.
Nevrax not responsible to keep customers updated on internal processes.

-------------------------
edit:

didnt see your last paragraph or wasnt there when I loaded.
Okee, that would soften my opinion a lot. Silly me being lazy and not wanting to rewrite a post will mention here that broken logfiles suck for internal use as well.

since i'm lazy i'll simply correct your summary:

Main purpose of SoR is a story.
Logfiles were the only way to make abovementioned story accessible to players, who, unlike me, can't spend all day in front of a computer.
Nevrax is responsible to keep customers updated on changes of the software.

and i said stuff it about the 3rd party things, since all you're trying to do there is to imply that i am somehow in breach of the eula, which is not the case, period.
also, please stop making silly comparisons that are nothing but huge exxagerations.
