What part of the lake lands (Aeden Aqueous) are you trying to get to? http://www.ballisticmystix.com/map.jsp?x=4926&scaleStep=3&name=atys&y=5158 I thought when the karavan ported you over from the island you landed at the teleport altar in Fairhaven, the capitol. Then there are the different regions of the lake lands, Liberty Lakes, Dew Drops and Resting Water.
Yes, there is a lot of swimming to get from place to place and there's not as many places to come ashore as I'd like. Look for sand that comes down to the water (or could be green moss). Sometimes there are lighter patches under the water that direct you.
Edit: And welcome to Atys new tryker!

Swimming everywhere is safer!
But as you learn your way around, you'll find out where you can run on the shoreline, and only dive into the water when you have to.

Re: Do i have to swim everywhere?
There are at least 4 ways into Liberty lakes, maybe more.
Swimming North from Fairhaven into a little inlet is probably the quickest. The inlet is clearly marked on your map, but is somewhat hidden when you actually swim there. Watch out for bandits in that inlet.
Entances are by Windermeer, from Dew Drops and one from Darkmoor. The Darkmoor entrance is a bit tricky as you have to climb roots.
Swimming is the only way of getting there.

Re: Do i have to swim everywhere?
Just a quick thought, and maybe a silly one at that.
To get from the starter islands to the mainland you need to be teleported. You can't just run or swim from the starting lands to the 'mainland'. If you're born as a Tryker or Matis then a Karavan official will teleport you to the capital city on the mainland. If you're born as a Fyros or Zorai then a Kami will do you the honour instead.
This may well be blindingly obvious to you aneamah, I just thought it couldn't harm to add it for any new player considering the journey on foot
