Game lockup on exit

Post by katt31m »

Hi all
Today and yesterday , whenever i exit the game it proceeds so far and then stops responding. I have tried waiting for up to 15 minutes but it wont finish shutting down. The only way i am able to get out of the game is control alt delete and that doesnt always work. Any help would be appreciated.

I get this occasionally too. I usually just kill the process in Task Manager.

This seems to happen most on systems with less 768 MB of RAM. And almost never on systems with 1 GB or more. It might also be related to antivirus software. Make sure to start the game after a fresh restart of your PC and disable AV while you are playing. Do not start up and switch back and forth between apps a lot as this can also cause problems on systems with less than a GB of RAM.

You may also want to look into defragmenting your hard disk and making your paging file fixed at about 1.5 GB. Also disable as many of those little system tray apps as you can. They will impinge on system performance.

Overall, there is no 'fix' per se other than keeping your system in shape and running clean.
