hmmz.

i personally like pvp. but i also have my doubts about how it will be in ryzom.
on the other hand i think the pvp in ryzom will be more politically driven because of outposts and could make things interesting. also i do not think that ganking will be a major problem in this game because to many people know each other.

also i believe that with everything in ryzom the community will play with PvP as they want untill a certain extent. so there will be an impact but with a good community like this one i kind of hoping it will be for the best.

also it gives some more options. yes you can do alot already in ryzom (imo) but a bit more features to play arround with wont hurt.

Remember its the kami and karavan who put you up to this. so if you dont want it go against both and ignore them :D

Quite agreed. PvP is truely no better than PvE or PvWhatever, but also no worse.
grimjim wrote:No, it doesn't settle arguments it perpetuates them, heightens them and increases tension
Point one, that was a sarcastic comment I made. Point two, of course it doesn't solve the problems between players. But if some players really want to go at each other, they will find some other way if PvP is not available. Economic warfare, cold-shoulder tactics, creating 'anti-other-guy' alliances, and quite a lot more. PvP channels that hatred that would otherwise spill into other players' playing, keeping it isolated until they give up or hell freezes over.

I hate alliteration, so just look up at the 'John Hanke's Law' I quoted earlier.

No, I'd say it is worse because of the consequences for community and so on.

The only strike against PvE is the generally weak AI on any AI opponent. With guide/GM involvement and effective tools that could be overcome.

Also, to Audrey, slaughter of an opposing faction does not necessarily equal RP.

I used to think a little PvP in Ryzom wouldnt be a really bad thing, as the community is so nice, but now, after seeing the way our 'lovely' community has evolved (still a good community but nowhere near as nice as it once was) I think making ryzom PvP will just make more trouble, arguments, and drag the friendly comunity down. I also want content rather than permission to go around ganking/being ganked (@ Jyu content = rites, outposts with the guild options we were prominsed, fully interactive gm driven rp etc)
To answer the thread question, most definately NO!

Buy new game and repeat, oh and of course post on their forums how the new game needs all the features from the old game, because it was so great.

Thank you, appreciated :)

The content I want is more building blocks to play with. New armour, new weapons, new enchants, more rites, outposts, guildhall options, taking people into my apartment, customising said apartment, beards, more hairstyles, RP props etc etc. If they give me all that then I'll let them develop the PvP a bit

Huh? How would GMs affect AI? Maybe I'm not seeing the connection you're trying to make, but it seems that the only way that GM could affect it is by controlling a mob...and I don't know if that is possible.
grimjim wrote:No, I'd say it is worse because of the consequences for community and so on
Consequences....like? Angry people attacking each other? That's not so bad, especially if they are interested in attacking each other. Evil folk dropping innocents in PvP areas? PvP consent tags would solve that nicely.
But...

_So_ agreed. Content is universal, and of much greater importance than PvP. Not so much so to cut out the PvP that we have now, but important enough to delay advances in PvP until other advances have been made. Apartments, beards, RP props, maybe not _that_ important. But Outposts, guild hall stuff, rites, weapons, etc. etc., is stuff that is slightly if not long overdue, and should be priority number one.
