A Few Questions

Post by ardahn »

Greetings, everyone. I've just started playing and am thusfar enjoying myself. I had a few questions, if anyone could offer advice :

My friend started as a Zorai and I as a Tryker. How difficult will it be for us to come together and fight as a team? Are there any quick methods of travel between racial starting areas aside from mounts?

I love crafting in games - Ryzom is no exception. I feel that I am missing something BIG. I rarely have all of the materials to craft a pattern - therefore taking a considerable amount of time to gain not only a level in crafting but 3 to buy a new pattern. I hunt AND forage...is there an easier way to go about this? I'm not opposed to working for it, I just want to know if I am doing anything wrong.

I read in a Beta FAQ about a Musician class that would combine sound samples - is this still underway or has it been scrapped? The idea sounded innovative and quite amazing. I'd love to be a musician.

That's all from me for now. Back to the beach to dig up some mats for new clothes! -rubs hands together-

Getting together is not "hard" but you wont be able to do it without help. Keep your eyes on the forums for folks running escort missions etc or join a guild that can take ya sooner. Good luck to you !

Forage and hunting is the way to go. You can buy mats, but I find it is too expensive until you can earn a lot on crafting by itself.
When you find the mats you need while harvesting, make a note on your map, that makes it easier to find again.
If you need help locating mats, tracking and mat spec. is a must, but I assume you don't have access to those stanzas yet. Therefore you might want to ask for experienced harvesters, they can show you spots to work at.

It has been mentioned a few times after beta as well, but as of yet it is still a feature to come.

Travelling inbetween lands is very difficult for new players, and Zorai to Tryker happens to be the second-difficult route only after Matis to Tryker. It's possible to make it alone, but for someone just new to the game it would likely take so many deaths that you'd be horribly frustrated before you make it. I suggest catching a trek with some experienced players. Some ways to go at this:
- Public treks are sometimes announced on the forums, so keep an eye out for them. Lately there don't seem to be many anymore though. But you could always try organizing one yourself.
- Most guilds have enough members and firepower to make these treks on their own and are happy to take new members. And if they're in a good mood even non-members.
- Or you could just try asking in region, during peek hours, if anyone is willing to help you get there. Sometimes you might get no response, but other times I've seen calls like that promptly lead to a trek being arranged.
And don't worry that it takes 3 highlevel people an hour out of their time just to help you get to another land. I see sometimes that new players are relucant to go on treks because they feel guilty about this, but this is just how it works on Atys and we're all happy to do it.

Foraging is the fastest way to get materials for crafting. But as Lien said at low levels it can be very hard to find the right materials. Once on the mainland you could ask an experienced forager to show you the material deposits, and mark them on your map so you can come back to dig them whenever you need to.
