re:Content - I thought exactly the same thing when i started, especially in retail. But i've plyayed SoR longer than any other game, even longer than my beloved Diablo II, so I must have found something to do (or i'm hopeless at powerleveling). ;) Go figure. I guess Neun's post above covers some of the reason.

I am very good at power leveling! ;) However I have the attention span of a goldfish, the boredom thresh hold of a kitten and the stubbornness of a large rock set in concrete!

I don't have a single 250 skill! This was a deliberate choice!

When I played all the time, I was very very rarely bored, even digging 12hr straight had an entertainment value.

I don't want to fire off all my ammo before IRL, but basically the one major question I is ......

Why are you making Ryzom too easy?

It was frustrating when it was 'super hard', anyone remember trying to get into the fount 1 month after release (or any of the outlands in Tryker for that fact! I think Loria was the easiest to navigate in those days!). All I remember is those days were fun. No disrespect to PJ or Sinful, I respect your achievements and dedication, but lvl 200 in all skill these days is purely a time investment and nothing much else :( Anyone can go to EI and dig up to ql200 mats of any type, in an aggro free, teleport friendly spot and grind all day long..... where is the fun in that?


When it comes to content, the kind of content you need depends on why you play the game.

I play games to relax, escape for a while from the frustrations of real life but most of all to waste time!

The key point is wasting time, best described as you start playing and you only realise that its morning because its light outside and you have the light on!

Anyway - back to work!

irenicuz, just to illustrate the amount of content in ryzom, gm-made and player-made, please take a look here: http://www.gsm-community.de/eventlogs/
these are logs of events that either contain a story or are noteworthy to the story of ryzom itself. i know it's german, but take a look at the dates and open a few logs and see just how MUCH it is. what is collected there is *original content*, which drives the players, gives them things to do, involves them and gives them informations, WAY beyond what simple quests could ever do. to top it off, the quality of rp is so high that i sometimes don't even know which are gm-made and which are player-made, but instead of trying to figure that out they are accepted as happenings in the world of atys.

(sorry for the offtopic) I have to admit that the spring clean helped a lot here :) I may stay in Atys for several days without logging off and although I woulnd't say "rock solid" it seems good enough. It used to leak like a wet rag and sometimes it was lagabalooza, taking several minutes to be playable again. Things are quite better now, it mostly depends on where do you leave the avatar for a few hours. Unless I am mistaken, I think Karavan teleports still have a noticeable effect.

You can wear the item of a higher q, but you wont benefit you at all. So, a waste of money really. I can equip a q170 pike (from my lvl 147 melee), but I wont get the best damage from a q170 sword (witch my lvl is 105).

If you think ryzom is like others, okay, for sure quest and solo part is "weak". If you're looking for the same mark to grip on and play the game as it was a WoW or FFXI : no matters what, you'll be lost,doomed,killed (and not having fun).

The key is : PC community. As borg9 said, the world here is built by the players, not by scripted stuff. So to even know a bit of "what's up down here", you must have many contacts in-game. Sample requirement :
- where to get better stuff than in NPC merchands (A : ask a crafter)
- how to make a team (A : go to the usual hunt place... "usual" may change so ask ppl in region)
- how to leave the d**ned main city w/o being ganked by mobs (A : long-time players know the trick or safe way) ... ...
There is a tremendous amount of thing like that to know. And since the world is not static... experience here is not your level value, but how long you wandered around.
Crap part is when you start... below level 120 i dunno how you could figure out how rich the world is, around you. 14day trial's too short. 1 to 2 month at least :/
