Updating the Ryzom Manual

Post by lawrence »

Nevrax is currently in the process of updating the game's manual. Please refer to http://www.ryzom.com/?page=news&id=1062 for a full list of proposed changes. Feedback & suggestions are welcome!

Nevrax wrote: We are currently beginning to rework the game manual which is largely outdated and does not correspond to the game features.

We have got a (big!) list of changes that needs to be made, but we could have missed some, and you could have better ideas. So, before any actual work is performed on the manual, here is the list of proposed changes.

• (in Recommended system requirements):
- RAM 768 Mb (and change “Meg” to “Mb” on the left).
I think it should be MB or maybe MiB :)
(1MB = 8Mb, 1MB = 1000KB, 1MiB = 1024KiB)
- Kaetemi [Kami] [Fyros] [Elder of Atys] [NeL Developer]

The info on Pacts is wrong:

Page 28:

Pacts:

You can buy pacts from the Karavan and Kamis.
These pacts allow you to come back to life.
Caution: These pacts can only be used once and only let you return to a given point.
If need be you may use these pacts as a mean of teleporting to where you brought them.
Pacts

- “…come back to life”: add “next to the altars where you bought them”.
These pacts aren't to revive you from death, or to avoid a death penalty (that might have been implied). You should just change it so that a pact is a mean for teleportation and nothing else.

"You purchase a pact as a mean of teleporting from anywhere to the altars where you brought them at any later time. These pacts can be only used once."

Something like that.

Also saw that you explained the dp pact in the dp section, might be worth mention something about it here too.

• (in How to manage a guild):

- Details the number of officers and high officers, depending on the number of guild members (how many);
- Purchasing a guildhall: from the NPC “Guild apartment caretaker”.
- Remove the 4 last points.
I would remove the last 6 points.

* recruiting guild Trainers.
* recruiting guild Merchants.
* buy new actions from trainers
* buy improvement for guildhall
* deposit permission
* withdrawal permission

(currently can't do any of them)

At the risk of commenting on a bug... the guild trainers are "half coded" in; you can get them (non-working ones) in your GH if a certain bug occurs :o

Hi Sprite,
didn't realise that was a bug. I thought I couldn't use them because I did not have Guild points to pay them with.

I would leave the points in but add - (when fully implemented). It would save changing the manual again later.

What is that bug? In zorai guild halls you don't need any bug to access them. However, there is another bug in one of those trainers' rooms. It doesn't have working teleport out. The noob trap :)

The bug is that you're not supposed to be able to get them in the first place; the dialogue that lets you "buy" them isn't meant to be there :p
