How to use magic

i have just made my first char .. spec'ed fighter-mage-harvest

Yes I can harvest and fight and i "raise in lvl" But how to do that i magic ??
The only spell I got is "heal" .. Does that mean that I have to be in a grp and heal pep in order to get an attack spell next ??

This is something the devs have acknowledged is a problem and will be changed. The plan is to give a single mage kit character Acid 1 instead of Heal 1.

In your case, yes you will need to group with someone and heal them as they either fight or cast on enemies. This shouldn't be too tough as a healer is a big help and the experience will flow much faster with a healer than without.

Or you can use 50 sp from another branch to learn acid 1, personally I use fight sp to do just that as I know I can recoup the "lost" points in fight.
