concerning being attacked by low level creatures i thought some kind of armor or jewelry enhancement would work well. like jewelry could be instilled with the scent of a high level creatures making low level agro mobs more likely to stay away.
armor could also be given camoflauge enhacements to decrease the the distance that mobs will nottice you from.
this would all probably differ by area so you would need to wear the right armor and jewelry to suit your current environment.
not quite sure how original these ideas are but thought it would be a cool aspect if added to the game. i am very interested to hear other ideas and additions to my own.
i think this way would make it easier but not just easy.

Better yet, as I suggested in the wish list post, build a scouting/camouflage/sneaking branch into the Harvesting tree. That would give harvesters more of a scouting role which fits with their explorer nature.
Allowing crafters to make camouflaged armor would also be cool tho - with the effectiveness of camouflage based on the types of materials used (maybe have special mats that provide better camouflage quartered from certain creatures or obtained as rewards for mission/quests).
