1. They signed - that doesn't mean they ever played.
2. There are 4 servers, one for each community, the testers can be in either of the 4 of them.
I'm talking about the testers that actually loged (so I could see there, they did log, of course I'm not counting the testers that NEVER loged, since, well... they never loged, so they don't know if the game is good or bad, they did never tried it, just sent the subscription).
High points? Low points? What makes you love/hate the game?

Re: High points? Low points? What makes you love/hate the game?
how are the controls? The animation, is it smooth? How much variety is there as you grow stronger? How pronounced are the differences between characters as you grow stronger? Just how deep is character creation, and further customization down the road? How much do the devs interact with us, the players? How organized are the guilds/clans/whatever?
Just a few of the thoughts running rampant through my head. Thus far, I'd say it's a safe bet to say I'll be picking the game up on Friday when I finally get some free time (I work 10 hour nights).[/QUOTE]
You are open to customize your char any way you want. you can start as a pure fighter. then add magic later. further down the road you can be a armor crafting tank mage harvester. up to you. From looking at the skill trees and the way they branch out there is a ton of things you can specialize in.
Controls are great imo.. if you played Everquest you will like the controls here. speaking of EQ..if i may compare... i was in EQ from the start (March99)
The similaritys btwn SoR and EQ are pretty much the same. EQ was so new, didnt know anything about game. The world was a wonderful magical sometimes scary place. In time i learned about different classes and areas. Still have strong fond memorys of my first trip to places like Misty Thicket and SteamFont.
In SoR i am more relaxed and just here to have fun..I like to look at the map..and just travel to a spot just to see what is there.. The death penalty is enuf that you dont want to die but not so much that you dont want to take chances..Like in EQ ..exploration brot the risk of loosing hours of exp and even all the gear you had (EQ now not so bad with the ShadowRest zone)
SoR has rekindled the old "EQ" wonder and spark..i feel like i am "home" when i am in game. I look forward to my char getting "older" and exploring more of the world. I like how things will change in the game(story line) towns supposedly can be invaded and taken over by enemys. Look forward to seeing how this all comes together.
I had reason to petition a bug my first nite in SoR (Monday) found a small bug in a newby quest... Was surprised to have a guide "tapping" on my shoulder less than five minutes later. Showed guide the "broken" quest.
hope you get the game on Friday. i think you will grow to love the game.

Re: High points? Low points? What makes you love/hate the game?
*yawns* I really would want this game to release as soon as possible, might mean that less people are trolling the boards of other games.Unregistered wrote:... and provide a quality service/game such as WoW ...
And, please, Mr. Unregistered, next time you quote my post write anything about my post instead of just producing random rant No. 17.458.
Re: High points? Low points? What makes you love/hate the game?
Well the NA community has what 20k subscribers? So the game feels empty.
There are no dungeons, and kill x number of anything ARE NOT quests. This missions have no variety you get around 5-6 different types of animals to kill, so after doing your kill 6 Kipees for the one hundred time it gets repetitive and boring.
I have never seen people quit this game this fast, my guild had 20+ members, everyone left but 2 or 3.
My reccomendation to you is to wait 2 months before playing this game. Hopefully by then it will get better. Definetely is not woth paying $15 dollars a month right now.

*Sighs* it seems you don't get itUnregistered wrote:well ok let me put it this way:
Im wrong -5% im right 95%
Because 95% of the people who tried/tested this game have LEFT.
it's not that people left... it's that very few people that actually entered the game didn't left, I don't care at all about the subscriptions from people that did NEVER even try to log in, or from people that sent 10 subscription to see if 1 of them was accepted into focus beta.
the reality is from the % of people that actually ever logged in, a lot of them are playing in retail, even if you don't like this fact or try to convince yourself it's not right.
Sorry to say but, yes, tons of people that actually tried to play Ryzom do like it, you can of course keep on saying that's not true and that the mmorpg X (or should I say W? heh ) is better, well, as I said do not trust someone who say something's bad, or even something's good, try it and decide yourself .

Larsa, you seem to get so much out of the game and notice alot more things going on. Your commentary in this and other threads is whats keeping me curious enough to hang in there for awhile to see if it picks up. If you ever decide to do a guide or a FAQ, let me know, it will be an interesting read, i think

Well, thanks for that.fiach wrote:Larsa, you seem to get so much out of the game and notice alot more things going on. I tell you a story. In the open beta in spring I played a pantsmaker. "Pantsmaker?" I hear you saying. Yes, a pantsmaker. I was making pants, light pants, caster pants, medium pants, heavy pants - nothing else than pants. And I had a hell of a good time with it, I travelled from camp to camp on the refugee island, stood in the middle of the camp and was shouting: "Pants! Homins, buy pants! Protect your butt with pants from Jando! Finest pants, all made from harvested materials, affordable even for refugees. Homins, buy pants from Jando!" Something like that ...
Of course it was crazy from me to do that, after all I would have to level light and medium and heavy armour and would have enough skillpoints thus to make all armour pieces but I decided to roleplay a pantsmaker. And thus I sold only pants, after all a shoemaker makes shoes and a shirtmaker makes shirts and a pantsmaker makes pants. Logic. And I told my customers: "Ah, one day I will make the finest pants homins can buy in Yrkanis, our great capital city. And then I will travel to the lands of the Fyros, to the Zorai and perhaps even to the small folk, these Tryker people and will learn how they make pants and all the nobles from Yrkanis will come to me and buy my pants because they like to wear something exotic so now and then."
Of course that was even more crazy because I would have to level all race-crafting skills to do so but it was fun and brought a lot of atmosphere into my play. And then I told my customers and all the other people listening around: "Ah, and then I will open my own shop, in one of the finest streets of Yrkanis. And I will ask beautiful people from all over Atys to come for the opening and wear my pants, so that the people of Yrkanis can see how fine a pantsmaker I am."
Now, I guess you get the idea, that's roleplaying for me. I do not care whether I'm level 100 tomorrow or in 2 months, it's of no concern to me. Of course I like to bash some mobs too so now and then (I'm playing a mage now, thus I nuke them ) but it are these little roleplay things that make a game enjoyable for me. And this all happens on the backdrop of this wonderful world called Atys that Nevrax has created and Nevrax has provided an extended storyline for it:

Now, my new Jando won't be a pantsmaker this time around, I think I'll just be a wise Tryker (as wise as Tryker can get that is) and I'm not yet sure how I will develop the character. But I can assure you that playing a unique character is not something what you do when you create a character and play around with a few sliders. Neither has it anything to do with who's the first one to hit the level cap.
Want to be a unique character? Well, be unique.
