The endless grind claims another player......

Post by lewalton »

I wanted to say good bye to all the peeps i have met while i have played Ryzom. The grind has finially became more unbearable then the draw of my friends to keep me coming back to play. I have hopes for Ryzom and i will come back in a couple of months to see how things are going. I fear it will still be the same though :( .

Then don't grind.

Do something else.

Yeah. No one's forcing you to grind.

If you're not having fun, make or find your own...

I got tired of grind, started to dig and craft. Takes alot more brain, I assure you (well, I grind craft sometimes).

You could go on arrange treks, offer protection to diggers, nuke PR diggers (no, not particularly infinity, Brithlem :D (still this is not a suggestable way of having fun)), make jokes of Zorais, chase Trykettes in the bar... Lots to do!

I didn't mean any disrespect to his opinion.

Which, funnily enough, is precisely what Jessie seems to be doing ;)

I get fed up with the lengthly character development sometimes, and having friends to chat with is also one of the key things that keeps me drawn to this place; but sometimes that's not enough and I take short breaks from Atys to recharge the batteries, as it were.

I think what exacerbates the problem for me, and perhaps for Jessie as well, is that I find the alternatives to levelling are not all that appealing. Exploring the world doesn't hold my interest, and I find it very difficult to enjoy many of the events as I find the roleplay surrounding them a bit too corny for my liking. Going hunting instead of foraging is just levelling up in a different area and only a short-term solution to the monotony, so mostly I find myself still digging and crafting; motivated mostly by the requests from other homins for my crafted goods (that helps a lot by the way. When I thank my customers for the trade it's definately not a half-hearted gesture :) ).

Still, I've yet to see an online RPG out there that can take me away from Ryzom; so I shall persevere, playing when the mood takes me and chilling with something else when it does not. Take care Jess. More likely than not, Delphi will still be around in some capacity should you choose to return :)
