These sanctions range from a 24H ban to a permanent ban, depending on the severity of the case and antecedents. Some have already experienced our wrath on this subject.

Xavier - One night I had a little too much red hot sap in my coffee (Edit:Wot u mean, just the one?). I used a couple of innappropriate words to a GM and justifiably received a 24h ban. If you consider a 24h ban for botting, even for a first PROVEN offence, as kicking their butts, well golly, gosh and jolly hockey sticks I'd better watch my manners.

Have you not read the will of the majority of the community? The least we would expect is a removal of lvls of say 25% of that held. Nothing wromg with a 24h ban to give them time to consider if it ws worth it. However, you must make the punishment fit the crime. They bot for xp then it must be removed when caught.

What's up doc? Too much trouble?

That is just one option they have available. I assume repeat offenders will be dealt with harshly.

Being 100% accurate can be hard sometimes with botting - that's the whole issue. The easy way would be to immediately ban forever; but if you get wrongly suspected of botting one day, I hope you will appreciate our reasons.

Altering a characters specs is really an area we currently don't want to enter - a matter of principles. At the moment, we would rather ban someone for one year rather than removing a single level of a char.

I didn't actually read any of the following posts past the OP, but since it says "...please specify" in the other option, I thought I would specify first and read later :P

I quite like the level rollback idea, although it shouldn't be a percentage. It should roll back to the level the char had achieved by the last time they logged off. That way if they've logged on and botted, they lose all of those botting levels. Also, for those who have levelled and then botted, they lose all of the levels they gained in that session, which is extra punishment. Perhaps a 2-week ban should accompany this aswell, just to get the message across. Oh and maximum DP which sticks until the next time they log on. Just to make them work extra hard to get the next level again.

:D

Silly botters.

However, I have to admit to using a macro-app to grind out the Doctor crafting tree (in Star Wars Galaxies) for the fourth time (I grinded it out 'by hand' as it were the first three times I mastered it) simply because it was such a long and boring grind; and I had done it three times already, so it's not like I hadn't experienced the mission. Anyway, it's still a little inexcusable, but especially in Ryzom, as it doesn't have the same pickup-and-drop skill system that SWG had.

My 2 cents.

Holstad I too ran a similar test on friday. At 12 pm I placed myself in the PR, 150 meters from the karavan tp. On some mission mats. Unlike you I actually ran a macro. and went back to work. Took approx. 2 hrs before someone stopped by to see anything wrong. Applause to Audrey who is the one who noticed the behavior and reported it to the gms. GM sent me a tell, several times then im assuming they moved me cause i was in a diff spot when I returned.
I was given a 24 hr suspension for using an illigal bot. from start to finish it took about 4 and a 1/2 hrs before i was caught and punished. Granted I placed myself in a high traffic area for PR. Well semi high traffic area.
Points I learned: apparently if you respond to the gm you will not get suspended on that first offence. But no responce and you are given the suspension. Guess no response proves to them you are not attending the macro.

So you know this was an experiment in response to this post, my god its 17 pages long. In my experiment the steps the gms are taking is working. But I believe they need assistance from the players, I could have chosen a secluded spot and doubt i would have ever been caught then.

This is my first time ever using a bot in Ryzom and my last. The last game I played allowed supervised botting as you call it, that is the reason I had access to the program. If you ever catch me botting turn me in, nuke me if Im in PR. But you wont get the chance.

Pretending (even if it is true) that you were just 'testing the application of policies'... that's as invalid as excuse as someone hacking into a bank computer and then saying 'I was checking your firewall'
Guess no response proves to them you are not attending the macro.

well my guess is that they don't want you to use macros (third party or not in game), but proving you are using a macro when you are attending seems pretty hard to me.

So you know this was an experiment in response to this post
you know, I've talked to a few botters, and to botters' friends. Their first reaction is often 'I was just testing it, I didn't mean to use it' (sometimes they were testing it while sleeping, I guess that's throughful testing)...

In summary: sorry if I sound harsh or sarcastic, I think I understand your reasons, but I don't agree with them. It sounds like "I will insult a player see if they enforce the CoC"

I think you hit the nail on the head there. I think this is a lie, if you where useing a bot you where botting end of, i think they should ban you for another 24 hours for so blentently abuseing this thread, where decent players who are genuinly worried are voicing their concerns against cheats like you lorzazel!

There is never a reason to bot, not even to test if the punishment is harsh or not. Thats just sad imo. I dont need to bot to play the game, why should you?

Genuine player were voicing their concerns that the matter is not being dealt with. A genuine player, proved the system works. A non genuine player would not post here for you to persecute him. Sorry you see my actions as dishonorable, but those who have quit over this issue, those who are planning on quiting over this issue, those who have wondered if the gm/nevrax even care now we have the answer.
