Game hangs upon exit

Anyone experience this one?

You quit the game and you're left with the exit splash screen until you end-task the client?
It started with my new computer (game runs beautifully ), before and after the last patch and it doesn't happen every time (1 of 5 exits or so). I just wait until my hard drive activity light has been out for few minutes and kill it. I don't get a crash message nor does it register as an improper exit.

As a seperate item, the "Post New Thread" button at the bottom of the forum page doesn't work anymore.

This has always been the case for me. Like you say, only about 1 out of 5 exits and it doesn't report as an improper exit. I've never figured out what the problem is and it doesn't seem to be causing any issues so I just live with it.

happens to me sometimes also no error msg the only way to get out of that loggout screen is to kill the client_ryzom.exe .. unfortually dont even know how to help cause i get the same thing as u sometimes .. usually happens when i tab out a bunch of the game

It happens more often that not for me as well.
Would the log files show any difference between a normal shutdown and a hang? Maybe check that out.....

Happens to me too, so either re-boot or ctrl-alt-del to open rask manager and kill it there.

This is one of those annoying things that happens differently for different systems. My laptop with WinXP Home and 768 MB RAM will have Ryzom sitting down on the taskbar long after the game has finished exiting. Very rarely does the game actually hang on logout. And this never happens on my WinXP Pro 1 GB RAM computer. So chances are the main factor is the amount of system RAM. Those with 512 MB will probably find that the OS cannot clean things out well enough after playing.

Operating system patch levels could also be affecting things. Another factor could be the other apps (WinAamp, web browser, etc.) running simultaneously and causing a lot of swapping. Virus scanners and other helper apps could also be an issue.

If you let things settle down before killing off the game client you should be pretty safe. And make sure to back up your SAVE folder every few days or so if you do a lot of markers.

Try setting a fixed paging file size of 2 GB or something (min 2048, max 2048)

Make sure video drivers are installed cleanly and use 93.71 (remove video drivers, reboot system and run video installer.)

Maybe it is time for a fresh install with the latest installer.

Or perhaps your SAVE files are corrupt. Try renaming the SAVE folder and relaunch.
