Naming Committee's new vision
Re: Naming Committee's new vision
Everyone's welcome to speak their mind, and I understand how the pace of SoR development can be frustrating.amitst wrote:except this time instead of a committee on how to impove ryzom we will give its eulogy
Yet, from my POV, I don't see how threads like this are remotely helpful.

Re: Naming Committee's new vision
I agree with Keoni. What's the point of negative therads like this?
Re: Naming Committee's new vision
Probably just another person not only frustrated by slow developement, but maybe also angered/annoyed by the continuing series of nerfs, as well as ones comming in the future. Or maybe it's not the nerfs or the restrictions themselves, but rather the sneaky and occasionaly dishonest way they have been introduced. Maybe it's Neverax/Jolt's continuing (with or without popular support) stressing of PvP.
Could be a lot of things.
When you think back on all the bugs, unannounced changes, and just plain screw-ups that the players of this game have experienced, it is rather amazing that a eulogy has not yet been read.

Re: Naming Committee's new vision
Yeah this is pretty much the worst game ever and all those superior MMOs out there don't have any of these blatant problems and lack of respect for the community that totally ruin the Ryzom experience.
Pfft, get a grip. This patch has sorted out quite a few niggling things (especially source window ordering) and given apprentice crafters a reason not to swap their tools for evil caster mitts. The next patches will be 'content' patches, the stage has been set (I think) for outposts and faction war and we know more PVE stuff is coming too (statues, special missions, more rites).
If the majority doesn't like the healing change then make a poll or reply to the other, constructive, thread. One possible bonus of it though is that if you get whacked down there now by another player then you know they're not just messing about and may have thought about the ramifications of their actions. There's no 'undo' button now. Maybe this will change just like the ticket bulk, maybe there's a reason and it won't.
Give useful feedback, organise a protest or petition or evolve with the game and take it in your stride but please don't whine about it. The final option is to leave but I'd feel pretty silly if I left over something like the last patch and Nevrax's 'attitude'.
My annual subscription runs out soon and I'll be renewing it for another year.

Wow, an annual subscription. Mighty brave of you there. Not saying I don't have faith in the game or anything, I just wouldn't do that with anything. Is annual subscrition common in this game? Or you just like it that much. Just curious.

kashius : renewing for 6 months here every time.
So much to do in game that i'll need 1 or 2 more years before finishing my char and enjoy it fully.
Nerf? : above level 150, this game is too easy. Every new "nerfing" patches out there, w/ their "hidden feature" means nothing for a fighter, forager or crafter above 150.
BUT BELOW 50 : it's a uber pain in the neck, and whenever i help the real newcomers i feel pain when they loop-die, pull 0.9 mats per source, dont find proper gears at npc (and so being a jester-looking) and wandering clueless since no npc welcomes them to explain that "teh gingo outta here u cant solo it"...
if no one cares about our lovely newbees (/tell-ing and explaining game basis)... they just leave. Work here nevrax, please, if you want more people, more healers, more various teaming and all region filled with fun party hunting !
ps : too bad it's off-topic :/

I suppose losing so many customers over patch 1 was silly too?boinged wrote:

Even coming back to Ryzom after a server merge this new server has a small fraction of the players it had during its first two months. Both players and especially Nevrax need to stop with the "Devil may Care" attitude and work getting those players back... and then maybe even growing beyond the game's launch.

To boinged:
If it sounds like whining, it is likely because many have had their comments ignored, and are tired of it, given the promise made that that would not happen.
Nowhere, in any post, did anyone state that all other games will listen to the people who employ them (i.e. us), but then, most do not make that promise.
If you have not seen the problems that have arisen due to recent patches(many unnanounced, which galls because of another promise), and do not see the problems that will arise with some of the proposed changes, you are either blind, or very lucky.
Most of the people I have met from your guild are good folks, and indeed, I like them
However, a post which contains only sarcasm, insult, and whining, whilst complaining about the same in other posts, does little to raise respect.

Re: Naming Committee's new vision
I would have to agree that some of the decisions made are not the greatest or as good as they could have been, and yes, the stealth changes get quite frustrating, but I have yet to play a MMORPG where those frustrations didn't exsist. That's not to excuse it and say that its ok, because breaking promises is never ok. But when many people leave one game, like Ryzom, they usually move on to another, only to find the same frustrations there. So what are we to do?
1) We vote with our mouths. We use whatever means necessary to make it loud and clear to the dev's what we the community want and what we don't want. Then hope they listen.
2) We vote with our pocketbooks. Say goodbye to your Ryzom friends, cancel your subscription and look for greener pastures.
It's sad to see so many people leave, so many friends lost to other games that I couldn't even list all their names here. But I believe in Ryzom, I think they will get it right...eventually, or die trying. But I also think they don't have much margin for error given the small community that currently exsists on Atys now. So here's hoping they do their homework, listen to the community, don't make promises they can't keep and bust their collective behinds to make Ryzom the game that it has the potential to be.
