A touch of reality...
Re: A touch of reality...
I didnt get the joke

Re: A touch of reality...
I would post a pic of myself, because my character 'Kodel' is played no different in situations i encounter ingame than i would act in real life. I just can't get a picture done with the right angle. It's not cos i'm ugly...honest. Anyway i love the people i meet ingame and the way that they have portrayed themselves towards me and i wouldn't change a thing. You all rock.
Re: A touch of reality...
i would´nt like to know the faces behind the char´s as i want to "know" the char not the player
(RL meetings are something else as i go there with the intent to meet the player
)

PS:
in a perfect world everyone would be bi, so i could play with 100% of the populationthebax wrote:In a perfect world, all the other guys would be gay, with me the only straight one, and all the women Bi. Less competition, and what competition there was, would be more fun to watch![]()

I play bretty much exclusively female characters, usually for aesthetic reasons ( I enjoy the view/appreciate the artwork
) and dont confuse my ingame avatar with myself. My girlfriend sometimes worries I impersonate a 'chick' too well ingame, she thinks she can spot guys usually but I have shaken her confidence
But back on topic, my in-game characters are ~works of art, and much better looking than I am. I may stick my face up as a forum avatar ( /bows at Grimjim ), but dont really want people associating that image with me in-game

Re: A touch of reality...
So far all the complaints I've seen in previous discussions about this subject came from men who had an issue with female characters played by guys. Is it less weird to have a male character played by a girl, or is it just not mentioned because it's so much more rare? And how about the female players out there, do they find crossgender playing weird too or is it just a male problem?.
Speaking as one of the female players, I could care less about the real gender of the other person/people I'm in team with or chatting with. I think the only time it would matter is if I'm developing a true friendship that will carry outside of game as well. However, at that point I would imagine, or at least hope, I'd know the identity behind the character.
I, personally, would not play a male character as I'd be most unconvincing I believe.
In keeping with the actual thread topic, I don't think I'd post a picture. My guild/in-game friends have seen my picture already and that's enough.

I don't think I'm a good example of what women view of the whole trangender thing. From playing in LARPS I'm used to men playing women and women playing men. It doesn't bother me at all. Also when it comes to things like MMOs I usually assume that a majority of female chars are men. Its a fair assumption for me to make really cause I am in the minority. Cross gender playing isn't weird to me, I kind of expect it.
Finding out what my guildmates looked like at the last RL meet, surprising but interesting. Because of how they play I'd already built up a mental picture of them and the RL comparison was interesting. To me, seeing if I was right or wrong is interesting. I like knowing what the player looks like.
Finding out the cute little tryker girl I play with is actually old enough to be my gran? Okay little weird, but ultimately very kool. And yes, I do know a woman IG who is old enough to be my gran (nearly). But how others would react to finding out she was that age after flirting with her IG, I don't know.

Re: A touch of reality...
Daz, a few others in the guild who also played female toons were men too - so I dont think Suma was treated too differently. I never knew the player out of the game - so to my mind Suma was always a woman, but then again I like to RP also, and have played females characters in other games, quite well too, but thats another story
Good to hear your voice again, I had thought you had already quit

Re: A touch of reality...
The first time I played any games and found out a lot of the females were played by men was a OMG. especially the first time on teamspeak and heard this booming voice talking it did confuse me. But now I just accept it all. you are who you are and if you can convince people you are who you are playing than you are a great actor.
I tried to play a male once. did not do it well at all. I am me and you all have to accept me as that.
