Those that are on the server now have already lost those rites that dissappeared, they will have to redo them. It is locked so no one else will come in and lose those rites, therefore keeping me from having to do them over. Of course i would rather be in there now and have to do them again.

Quick update: the issue currently under investigation lies with some of the rites which are tagged as 'non-working' (see http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11017); they have disappeared from some characters' encyclopedia. If we reopened the shards now, you would have to redo the ritual tasks already completed if we were to reintroduce corrected versions of these rites in the future.

Only the ritual tasks (pre-rite missions) of some yet to be implemented or non-working rites have disapeared from people' s entries. Not whole functioning rites.

Rites are a ritual test you can undertake to prove your worth of being passed down your ancestors' knowledge, which is conveniently stored in amber cubes.
Simply put: missions that require smaller missions to be done and in return allow you to pick up an amber cube that hands you a nifty new crafting plan/stanza/power. The amber cubes contain more than those powers though; they give you an encyclopedic text that gives you more insight in the ways of days long gone.

Just a question, what are these "encyclopedia" rites?

The encyclopedia is an in-game mechanism for us to learn information about Atys as well as gain unique skills. You can see some screenshots and a description here.

Once you complete a rite (the final task in a theme), you get a new skill or stanza as well as some text content about the subject of that theme.

Seems like we have precisely identified the issue now.

You probably remember that we proposed to remove the non-working rites a few weeks ago. Following-up on your feedback, we decided to reverse the proposed change; however, the 'do, undo' operation had a non-spotted consequence on the reference data used by the server to identify themes. It caused the affected rites to be discarded during the sanity check performed by the shard upon character load.

We are currently working on a fix for this issue. I'll keep you posted.

PS: Can someone send us some coffee? We're running short.

So the server performs a sanity check on your character when it's loaded? Soma, maybe this is why you can't log in....
