I'm confused as to the outcry over the change they made in the armor requirements. To me, it seems like they DID listen to the feedback and made an appropriate change.
Initially, they said light armor was going to be constitution * 2. This idea was not received favorably by the community as it would have prevented a pure harvester or mage from wearing light armor that was in line with their skill level in those areas. It would have forced those characters to also develop their melee skill simply to wear the light armor.
So they went back and changed this from "constitution*2" to "highest skill level+25", which I think makes a lot more sense.
Did they come back and ask for yet another round of feedback after making this decision? No. Should they have? In my opinion, no.
We can't expect that every time they decide to make a change based on our feedback that they'll also run their decision by us in another feedback thread. If that were the case, we'd get stuck in a continuous cycle of further revising ideas and never implementing any of them.
P.S. Here's the thread where the original const*2 was discussed (http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16387)

That change was posted by Lawrence to feedback thread yesterday (10. august)filtern wrote:I dont know were, but I have seen this before I read it here too.
maybe you have access to ATS and readed it there ?
i dont have ATS access, hell, ATS reg form dont even recognize me, so level requirement for armor was not available for common ppl until yesterday.
... or i (and everybody else w/o ats access) just missed official feedback thread about it.
Re: Next Patch scheduled for tomorrow, August 11
Yeah, that was how it was on the middle of 3 ATS patches... Ah wellphilu wrote:Not what it now says in the notes.
Re: Next Patch scheduled for tomorrow, August 11
Exactly my point. Whether it has been on the ATS for a while or not only has bearing on the fact that they could have told us much sooner. For the vast majority who don't have ATS access or read the ATS forums this has come as an unpleasant surprise.blaah wrote:That change was posted by Lawrence to feedback thread yesterday (10. august)

We were given no prior warning of this (I don't count < 1 day as prior warning). This goes against everything Nevrax claim they are trying to do communication wise.
An official explanation would be nice.

I'm not too bothered about the light armor requirement change.aylwyne wrote:I'm confused as to the outcry over the change they made in the armor requirements. To me, it seems like they DID listen to the feedback and made an appropriate change.
For the record, a pure forager could still wear light armor appropriate to their skill based on the con x 2 reqs orinigally suggested. In fact, the lvl+25 is much more restrictive even on foragers. Now a forager must be lvl 225 to wear Q250 light armor. Under the con x2, they need only be lvl 165 to wear Q250 light armor. So changing it because people said it was unfair to foragers is a totally bogus statement.
None of these changes really affect me too directly, I justhit 200 in forage but I've never had max Q equipment. It's always beena bout in line with my level and I'll have lvl 225 before I expect Q250 stuff anyway.
I am really upset they decided to apply it to medium armor without giving anything back as a consolation and without mentioning it to players first. I figured it would be obvious that medium armor needs any benefit it can get, as it sees so little use already. Medium had specifically been designed I thought so people could wear higher Q, I don't know why they would change their mind.
Information on the level requirements change may have been available to ATS users but I can almost guarantee it wasn't mentioned anywhere the rest of us could find it.

But they could have announced the change before it went live ( I repeat - I don't count < 1 day as prior warning). The 'outcry' from my point if view isn't the change, it's the lack of warning about it.aylwyne wrote:

And to be strictly accurate, they didn't quite listen since the constitution * 2 is still in the In-test notes. Is it going to be both or just lvl + 25? If it's both, you'll STILL need to raise your constitution.
Besides the having to raise melee argument isn't strictly true, you can buy constitution upgrades from other skill trees.

It's their game, they did the decision. The question was very much talked about. But frag them some more, i like to see stuff that will never end up anywhere, like tv soaps and important justice trials...

On July 13, they announced that all equipment would be given level prerequisites (here. They asked for our feedback on that idea. Their initial plan was to make light armor = const*2. That idea was shot to pieces by the community based on the idea that it forced high level non-fighters to level melee just to wear high level light armor.
Based on our feedback, they revised their idea to address those concerns and yesterday, they announced the patch that contains the revised changes.
If anything, I see this as a pleasant surprise. It wasn't a surprise at all that they added requirements to all equipment. That intent was clearly stated a month ago in the public forums. The surprise is that they listened to our feedback and revised their plan accordingly.

Re: Next Patch scheduled for tomorrow, August 11
No it wasn't, they just said light armour and jewels. Show me the month old official announcement about medium and heavy being level capped. In fact show me one previous to yesterday.aylwyne wrote:It wasn't a surprise at all that they added requirements to all equipment. That intent was clearly stated a month ago in the public forums.
Re: Next Patch scheduled for tomorrow, August 11
As you can see it says clearly 'ALL' in the first line. And then there' s the mention 'EVEN' light/caster armor and jewels.July 13th wrote:

will keep their prerequisites (none for light/caster armor and jewels).
Ofcourse, point taken if you meant they didn' t say which pre-requisites.
