I personally have nothing against it. I dont really see it as cheating if you are smart enough to figure out how to do it. (Course I dont even know the basics of botting). Is it even against the rules?

I would think it is (see my previous post)

Anissa, you state previously that the harshest enforcment is 24 hours that you have heard about (harsher than i have heard about). 24 hours is a blink of an eye in atys, yes the code of conduct was changed to "scare" off botters, but do you really think 1 day botting will be missed when they can just "sleep" :( an extra few hours the next morning and catch up?

I can't state what's the GM/Nevrax policy because I don't know. I would assume that the '24 hour ban' was the punishment for "first offense" after the CoC changed. I also know that the pusnishment months ago was a joke (something like a 'slap on the hand/warning and teleported away from harvesting spot).

Regarding the 24h ban, I got the info from the player and his guild himself. I can understand the first players 'playing around with it' get a warning, but now it's a knonw issue, the word is out and the warings have been given. Otherwise, one could even think "ah ok, so if I get caught I get a 24h ban? let's try then, no biggie"

Botting rewards those who are willing to cheat to get ahead. If someone can earn their levels while they sleep, that cheapens the accomplishment of those who have rightfully earned their higher skills. I believe there should be serious penalties on the first offense, and a ban of at least a month if a player is caught doing it for the third time.

This is a problem the player community can help correct. If botters are publically reported, more of us could know to keep a lookout for what they're doing when we see them in region.

Most seem in favour of some sort of a ban. I'm in favour of rolling all the persons characters back to a 20 skill level on the first offence.
If Nevrax internally e-mails everybody about the penalty then they know the price of that action should they take it. Then you should consider bans for future penalties.

i think a little bit of everything.
Name and Shame would be good for first offence, other players could then watch for signs whenever they spotted said botter. Rolling back more lvls than were gained by botting, reducing of dapper seem like decent deterents, with a ban (if not forever, at least for a sensible amount of time) for repeated offenders to show it isnt acceptable to bot
