Nonetheless, I don't think cheating and exploiting of any kind should simply be ignored. What should happen really is an escalating series of actions, ending in a permanent ban if the warnings are ignored and the botting continues.

Hopefully Nevrax already has such a system in place and is using it. We'd not necessarily know this was happening unless a banned or warned player chose to communicate this information to one of us who's still active.

Botting is not nearly the problem in this game that it was in my last MMORPG, but it could be a serious issue as dapper and high quality mats become more valued and sought after with the coming of outposts.

It is a problem and I've already lost enjoyment of the game knowing I'm competing for supreme mats against people who can only dig them cause most likely they've botted. All the botter's that i've caught were in prime roots for obvious reasons...the supremes.

i doubt whether 10-15 (or however many) bannings will affect the finances of the Nevrax company, if it gets to a point were botting is ignored by the gm`s then many geniune homin could jump ship. What is the accepted percentage population of botters??

its our game, we should let Nevrax/Jolt know the way we feel

I completely agree I see one more stupid botter than I'm not sure what my actions would be. But you can bet I'm sure gonna be looking for something that takes a tough stance against botting.

Rollback character to first time botting occurred. Delete all money and mats gained by botting. Warn player that if it occurs again they may have their account deleted. If the above stats can't be provided, rollback a month. That'll teach'em.

Well, I have reported several botters and nothing happens other than a "stern" warning... dragging aggro works for short term at least.

I'll be surprised if you get any official word on this one, but from what I've heard; the general rule for any "serious" offence is a 3 strike thing that culminates in a ban for some predetermined amount of time.

the aim of this thread is to tell nevrax what we feel, be it a stern warning (5% vote atm) or a stronger punishment (95% vote atm)

I, for one, think Nevrax seems to be more aware of the problem -at least lately - regarding the use of third party software (botting). It has happened not only on the NA/EE shards and they seem to be taking the appropriate measures, as the news :

July 8, 2005.
Policy : Change in the Code of Conduct - Third Party Software by Vince (Head of Customer Support) I would like to remind you that the use of third party software, aka macroing, in order to abuse the gameplay is forbidden in Ryzom. The Code of Conduct will be modified to state it clearly, very shortly. Even if it is already stated.

"You will not attempt to interfere with, hack into or decipher any transmissions to or from the servers running Ryzom and on any Ryzom Services or Nevrax Services."
"You may not exploit any bugs in Ryzom and you may not communicate the existence of exploitable bugs (either directly or through public posting) to any other user of Ryzom but report it to Nevrax."
This rule is to be enforced on our servers next week, as a result any account caught abusing Ryzom with one of those tools could end up being either suspended or indefinitly banned from all Ryzom services.
