Ello, I'm rather new here and was just curious when most people decide to leave the starter area, I'm at or above 20 in 3 of 4 tree's (having a horrid time getting my crafting up).
Also, I've noticed a lot of the info/guides seem to be a bit dated, where is the best place for more current info?
Thanks

Re: n00b
Sounds like you're about ready to go to me Lots of people now say you should leave straight away, but I'm of the "old school" opinion that as long as there's people there to talk to, stay as long as possible until lvl 30 in somethingneoshay wrote:Ello, I'm rather new here and was just curious when most people decide to leave the starter area, I'm at or above 20 in 3 of 4 tree's (having a horrid time getting my crafting up).

As for up to date info, thats what the rest of us helpful players are here for
Have fun, and hope to see you in Atys

There are always different views on when to leave the starting zones. But you seem proficient enough at the skill tree to leave. There will be plenty of mobs outside of the towns that are low enough for you to kill. The main cities also have a lot more people than the starting zones, so you will be able to find groups and get some more interaction.
This site has a lot of good info.

Re: n00b
Leaving the starter island is really experience dependant more than anything else...
You can learn many basic things there in newblands... If you know the basics or if you know peeps in game you know that going right to main race starter town also is good. Having a good guild as backup beats paying the new guy pains often...

Re: n00b
Leave the Islands when you are happy that you have a basic understanding of the game or you are finding it a bit of a struggle. I found the islands are a good place to experiment with the skills and stanzas.
When you get to the mainland seek some help as the skill trees and stanzas are somewhat complicated and there are ways of making things easier. This is a friendly community and most people will be very happy to help you out.
When you come to the mainland there are a lot of guild recruiters, I would advise spending a while outside the guilds, find out about them and choose one which suits you best.
Most long-term players seem to have placed a few characters through the Islands, correcting previous mistakes. As you have leveled all four trees and are looking for information it sounds as if you have a good foundation.
If you wish, post your character name and race so that we can look out for you.

My character is a Tryker named Keylin, I took her off the island but so far have only done a little foraging on the sources right around where you show up. I'm hoping to have some time today and tomorrow to actually start wandering around and exploring

Welcome to the Lakelands! I'm sure that some homins will help you there and probably try to recruit you in their guild. If you are looking to team, region chat sometimes gets results or you can use /who and send people messages directly with /tell.neoshay wrote:My character is a Tryker named Keylin,

Stupid n00b questions warning!
Uhm is there anyway to alter your physical appearance...I seem to have made some choices during charcter creation that seemed ok at the time but are currently really irritating me to the point that I may start Keylin over to readjust her appearance (alhtough this time I will likely move off the island a bit sooner if I do).
Also, is there anyway to see info about other players such as what guild if any they are in or what level they are (not that I'm sure how that would work with a level system such as this). I mostly ask because I've always judged guilds on their members and so far I've been unable to find a way to tell if someone is in a guild and what guild it would be.

In the capital cities there are "cosmetic merchants" - namely Hairdressers and Tatooists - that you can buy changes to your appearance fromneoshay wrote:Uhm is there anyway to alter your physical appearance...I seem to have made some choices during charcter creation that seemed ok at the time but are currently really irritating me to the point that I may start Keylin over to readjust her appearance (alhtough this time I will likely move off the island a bit sooner if I do).
