This game has THE WORST manual/tutorial of any I've played

The manual tells you practically nothing about the game or how to play, which I find very annoying seeing as this game has some pretty uniqe features that REALLY should have been explained a little...instead of not at all.

When you go to choose skills you pretty much have to guess as to what it actually does. For example-The mining skills...such as Node Preservation ( Think that's the name)...no description on what this does...or how it's used. Just that..you can pick it. Well....it turns out it's really only usable when your hihger level and have another person. This is driving me insane having to ask "what does this skill do?" ever 15mins because of the TOTAL lack of documentaion....the people who wrote the tutorial and this so called "manual" should be brought outside and shot.

Great game....HORRIFIC Manual/tutorial.

I have to agree... the manual is not very helpful at all. Never done the ingame tutorial so i really cant judge it.

I just want to mention that there are several great GUIDES in the internal boards here after you create your account you can access these guides.

I find the manual better than the other MMORPG's manuals.

I find the in game tutorial worse than the other MMORPG's tutorial.

Well, I agree in two things... the manual isn't too good, compared to a single player offline pc game, but the manual also isn't suposed to tell you everything from the game in a mmorpg, different than any single player pc game anyway, so not that bad .
The tutorial... well, I have to say I was in beta, but I still remember the first day I loged into Ryzom. The only difficult to me was that I started in a forest all alone with 1 npc in front of me, and the first thing I did was turn around, so I didn't notice the npc was called "welcomer"... lol. Once I found out he was a welcomer and talked with him, it was all quite straigth for me, also I'm fast learner, and that helps a lot, had no trouble with the interface.... maybe others will have, don't know, but well, wasn't too bad for me .

That is the same crap manual the game comes with...if you can find in it what the skills do, because 1/2 of them only vauguely describe what they are about. The game becomes a "guess and hope for the best" when picking skills. At low levels you can really slow down the progress of your char if you pick the wrong ones. Some only become usefull later in the game, which when your new picking them can make things a lot harder than it should be. They need to take a few hours (someone there SHOULD be able to type 80wpm) and type up a document that describes the first levels of each skill.
