Healing anyone

Post by amitst »

This has come up alot and is mentioned several times in the discussion thread for todays news post.

I can't see any way that being able to heal anyone is an exploit, but I do miss things often.

I hope nevrax considers this, because the only reason that I advocate PvP because in a world like atys it doesnt make sense not to be able to kill or heal anyone at any time. The players are mature enough to handle to repercussions and not do things for no reason (for the most part).

If you vote no, please comment and let us know why, cause I don't personally know anyone that would be against this.

Hmmm.....I hope I read and understand your post correctly.......maybe if you heal a person that is not an ally or part of your faction it results in a penalty to your fame or something, but I would prefer just being able to heal anyone at anytime no penalties.

I find it annoying that if I go on a large trek that is comprised of more than one team of people, that those outside my team when we travel through pr areas that are not allies and/or a different faction I can't heal especially if the trekking group is ambushed by a large group of mobs which usually results in the whole group getting killed.

Not only that, I find when by myself or with one other exploring or digging in PR areas that I can't heal or rez those opposite my faction or are not allied with me. I know, I know. If I want to play a character that is neutral or not supporting either faction, I should keep my fame levels all close to the same, but do you know how difficult that is especially after playing my character without knowing much of what I was doing for the first 50 levels or so lol back in January before I figured out how fame worked? Okay, okay.........don't rub it in......yes, I can be a little slow on the uptake. ;)

I voted yes you should be able to heal anyone anytime, i believe in the freedom to decide wether or not to heal someone and every situation is different and should be left for the player doing the healing to decide wether to heal or not.

*edit*

maybe make it so you cant heal people on your ignore list, that way you cant make a mistake and heal someone you really dont like ;)

The whole can and can't thing in healing, fighting, teleporting out of zone is all such an annoying mess that I really don't care anymore. But yeah, I wanna heal others often.

I try to resurrect them, and I'm said "Impossible to cast this spell on an enemy", since I'm still flagged PvP, while they are considered, I think, as neutral. I have then to wait 2 min to rez them. Shouldn't PvP be deactivated when we TP? [Submitted by arduous (FR)]
If we deactivated PvP upon TP, we would open the path to exploits, like being able to be fully regenerated without on-site help when you're almost dead in a FvF conflict (just TP somewhere else, get healed, and re-TP nearby); when used by large number of players, it can make a real difference.

Generally speaking, when FvF fine-tuning is involved, also keep in mind that the work on PvP is not finished; the current FvF implementation is only the first version. As pointed out in the letter from the PvP Strike Team: "Players tagged with the PvP flag and as non-neutral toward the major factions would be directly involved in worldwide Faction PvP. The only safe zones for them would then be near the town guards, who would attack enemies on sight."
Incase you didn't read the question and answer session - or you did read but don't understand what is being said.

It means that you can not heal after teleporting out of a pvp zone (and can not be healed) BECAUSE you could teleport right back close to a pvp zone.

This IS exploitable - and if you can't see how, then I don't know what is wrong with you. :)
-------------------
Personally, I don't like it. For 120 seconds after I have left a pvp zone I am still not able to heal or be healed. BUT, just because I don't like it doesn't mean I don't understand why it's there.

i voted yes, but exploit would be rezzing your victim in pvp zone... and then nuking him again. hehe, fun right ?

The exploit that they are talking about is the healers are not in the PvP zone, and thus not killable. The key to PvP/FvF/GvG is to take out the healers, thus crippling the opponent. But if they TP out when in trouble, get healed by healers that can't be killed, and then TP back, well, that is just a bit unfair, don't you think?

Don't know if there would be any problem if healer is pvp flagged immediately when he starts casting healing spell to pvp flagged target.

If you already know it is someone with a multipersonal disorder, the person(s) shouldn't be hard to find. :p

Can only agree, if you can attack someone you should be able to heal as well (you can tell I don't do PvP, can't you? :p ).
And while we are here, let us heal NPCs as well, what good is high fame with a tribe if you can't help them beyond missions, they can die helping you.
Not fair I tell you.
