Skill Trees and Points
Skill Trees and Points
I have a quick question. I've been playing a straight out fighter character, and I know it costs approx. 40-50 skill points to open up the basic harvesting/magic/forging skills. Also, I realize that the max skill level is 250, so in turn, that's 2500 skill points to spend. With the 2500 skill points, would that allow me to learn every skill in the fight branch along with opening the other branches later?

First of all, its best to start without fighter packages at charachter creation and instead take for example magic and craft and forage. The fighter starter packs are most useless and they arent needed to start swinging a sword to gain fight skillpoints.
Okay the 2500 skillpoints arent enough to buy every single skill, but there are more then 2500 points to gain in the fighting branche (and other branches) as the branch splits every 50 levels into some specializations (which you could easily all train upto 250) Some skills (fight, magic, craft, forage) have less skills to buy and some have more skills available so the amount of skillpoints needed to empty all the different trainers are variable

Re: Skill Trees and Points
There's a TON of extra skill points available in all 4 skill trees. Some of the skill trees take longer to get to where you have extra points, but all trees have extra points.
In my experience, magic and fight are the quickest to get to where you have extra points. By ~L100 in each, I had a lot of extra points lying around. For me, harvest and craft took quite a bit longer to get to where I had extra points. Of course, this depends greatly on how many parallel branches you level in each tree.
FYI, based on the skill tree we've been adding to our site (skill tree), there's 10950 total levels available in the game, for a total of 109500 skill points!

Re: Skill Trees and Points
Ahh, well, I just stumbled upon that fact that it is best to simply start with a pack of each besides the starter package since the frighter is pretty much free. I feel kind of stupid now since I made my way to level 20 fight and purchased equipment, but not that big of a deal really, as I'm sure I can redo that in a matter of hours. I also did not know that each special sub-branch of the main skill groups had their own levels.
Either way, that clears up a good amount of things. Now just to go back and recreate my character.

i'd say easiest way to start is to take the 3 crafting packages. craft with the basic mats you get to get 100 sp in craft. then use the 2 daggers you can craft for yourself to go kill some (non yubo's) for some fight sp. use this 20ish sp for learning harvesting and start digging. fight a bit more and then open up the magic tree. Then give up the fighting and forage lots and do lots of magic and you'll be dancing.
Re: Skill Trees and Points
Hello,
One minor comment, skill points are necessary and fun at the beginning and your choice can impact a bit your playing options during the early days, but don't be too worried about it, at high level and when working on several trees you'll end up having way more than needed. It is common to have fighters with 2000 sp, mages with 2000 sp and harvesters with up to 4000 sp (hey hey pete) and nothing to buy, trainers are empty, every single skill (including redundant ones) bought and trained. The one where sp are most needed seems to be crafting, provided you want to get all the craft plans and skills of the four races, but a couple of players I know will end up buying that one too

I really must thank everyone for all their great advice and comments. I know the official FAQ stated that it was pretty much possible to max the skill trees, but when I started to play I was just slightly confused.
Thanks again for the advice.
