BEfore I buy this game--Where are the servers located? Physically..
Re: BEfore I buy this game--Where are the servers located? Physically..
I shall mention, on the other hand, that this game is perfectly playable even with a ping of 300+ as this is an MMORPG, not an MMOFPS. ^^ It's even playable on a 56K connexion, from what I've heard (I know it's not necessarily related to ping but still).

Agreed. I just wanted to mention that server lag exists and this is what can get you killed by a warping-mob even when your ping is good - because in this case it's the server which lags, not your connection.

In my experience even a ping above 4-500 generally does not pose a problem in mmorpgs (of the standard non-fps kind - Planetside and perhaps Neocron as well as the upcoming Face of Mankind are possible exceptions) unless you have a high packet loss as well. If you do you may see a lot of warping and slow response times, but if you suffer from packet loss this may even be the case with a ping of 100.
I played City of Heroes on a US server for a couple of months with a ping usually above 400, and I had no trouble at all. I have had the same experience in a couple of other mmorpgs as well where I have played on US servers.
Of course I still agree that the US server should be physically located in the US, but even if it stayed in Europe for months to come, the higher ping times honestly should not cause problems for you unless they are accompanied by high packet loss (and then it is time to change your ISP ).
Now the insanely annoying rubberbanding problems that has been highly prevalent since the patch on the 28th however , might pose a problem. But they do so even to people who live next door to the serverpark or anywhere else on the globe for that matter.
They have, as I am sure you are aware, been acknowledged as server side problems (memory leak or whatever else the source of the problem might be), and let us all pray that they will soon come to an end.
I have just played for a couple of hours without too many problems - but they certainly are not entirely fixed yet.

i think it dependson your quailty of your isp, if you have a very good quality 56k dial up isp then you should be able to run it fine. My friend is doing just that but im lucky enough to be on 2mbps of connection

Hmm the way LAG hits you I'll say Neptune.
