I think Brithlem's (and by extension, infinity's) "official" stand on PvP in the roots to be completely reasonable.
And Basic, don't think I was attacking you. As I said, we have typically played well together.
What I was trying to express is my disappointment that a strong Kami guild and a strong Karavan guild seem not to take their roles seriously...or at least, with Basic's clarification, only take them seriously during events.
There is a lot of "potential" in the Kami/Karavan dynamic. But like most of SoR potential, it remains unused; and is therefore pointless. After all, if we do not pursue the Kami/Karavan conflict, even outside of events, then it is no remarkable thing when homins leave ideology behind in order to unite against a common threat.
It points again to how PvP and RP are often at odds. To be successful in a PvP environment, you often have to make arrangements that would violate your RP stance. If you do not, you are in for a lot of griefing.
I predict we will see more and more of this as PvP replaces content.
Unless, of course, this time it is done right.
