Or just don't do any missions and take the hit in having "bad" race/tribe fame too :p

Yeah but what about, for example, those guild members that already have pro Kami or Karavan members? If their guild wants to be neutral, then their members have to be too. Otherwise what's the point of fame at all?

If a guild wants to be neutral and not pro one faction or one race, they should have to make their members work towards that. Otherwise, 'neutral' is just a word and has no true bearing.

Well I for one think all these ideas are spot on. I am (and never have been) a massive fan of PvP, but I know that there are a lot of people out there playing SoR that are. Going back to what systemv said earlier "...SW:G handled PvP and faction combat pretty well..." which is very true. The over/covert system worked really well, and allowed participation or non-participation on a player-by-player basis, which seems to be what has been suggested here. SW:G is actually the only MMO which enticed me to try PvP, and I had a lot of fun for the two months or so that I participated in PvP.

From what the Strike Team have said in this letter, their basic thoughts and ideas are shaping up very nicely, and they should make for a very enjoyable PvP system. I think SoR could do with some good PvP, because I hear people saying things like "grr I hate Nevrax; what can I do now that I'm level 250, just dig til my knees are sore?"... Well, if this all goes ahead, then Homins can put their skills to the test against real human opponents, which naturally will provide more of a challenge than any NPC mob could ever give you. And if you don't want to get hurt, and DO want to dig til your knees are sore, leave your PvP tag off. Simple, right?

As for GvG wars, and the Fame affecting Guild-membership, I think that's a good idea too. Again going back to SW:G, there was no forced restriction on whether you could join a guild or not based on your faction alignment (Imperial or Rebel) but TBH if you joined an Imperial guild and told anyone you were a Rebel? It was time to wave goodbye to your newfound guild, or start grinding out some serious Imperial faction points, and fast! I quite liked the whole faction-vs-faction idea, it gave everyone something to fight for, there was a constant 'threat' (although that's probably too strong a word) that you were going up against. It always felt like you were doing everything for a reason; to kick some more Rebel butt! It was great to walk somewhere like Bestine when Overt (declared faction for PvP), and have all the Rebel guards attack you on sight, and see all the Rebel players rush to their nearest Rebel NPC to go Overt! Can't beat that feeling of tension and excitement. GvG war in SoR would bring that kind of excitement on a much bigger scale. Imagine seeing someone from an opposing guild digging away for some Supreme mats, running over and killing them, then dig the rest of their source :p It might sound cruel, but since it was consensual on the part of both Guilds, it really isn't that mean after all :p I'm not too keen on the idea of race wars however, but that might just be me. I wouldn't want to kill a Tryker unless I really had to. Of course, if we were at Guild war, that's a different story.

Grr I'm rambling again, I always do this, I'm not even gonna sum up. Or am I? Um.....love the ideas guys. I don't see why so many people are getting so upset about it really. I for one can't wait! Outposts are going to be good 'filler' for true GvG wars :) :) :)

Anyway, that was my 645 dappers ;)

The whole thing sounds like what plenty of other games are already doing. What's worrying, however, is if this feedback is required "before the bulk of code work begins" then does that mean there is no code in place in fight over outposts?

So, nothing original and more indications of Neverax.

This discussion, mind you, is always interesting, especially if the idea if 'PvP flags' and 'Factions' is new to you.

I would say a lot of the most complex code is already in place. The existing team PvP areas work fine so there isn't much of a change to that.

The design will probably take the time, deciding how the PvP will work with guilds and being able to opt-out or join in. Its good that Nevrax are asking for our views on this, rather than going straight ahead.

I agree! Some of the best community support I've seen in terms of updates / feedback.

Before we get too excited about being able to choose Neutral, look at how the PvP zones are working right now.

If you ARENT in a pvp faction, you cant heal EITHER faction. not even your own team members.
If you ARE in a pvp faction, you cant heal anyone not in your OWN faction.

having a third neutral faction, or even more racial factions, will only divide the players into more, smaller, boxes.

They need to set it so you cannot heal/can fight your OPPOSED faction, but can interact normally with ALL other factions.

I have fought maybe 5 duels in all my time in Atys, but I have cast an unnumbered amount of heals and rezzes on my fellow players. It is extremely irritating to answer a call for a res, fight-dodge-sneak your way to the casualty with seconds on their clock.. and find you have been contaminated with a 'faction' and cannot do anything but watch them respawn. Then get killed yourself :p

It would be interesting if racial fame played into guards actions. Most of us older players have +66 - +100 fame with all 4 races, 80-100 with kami or karavan and -80- -100 with the other.

Heh, I wonder if the PVP strike team is reading any of the PVP threads recently in the EE forum.

I wonder if they're pulling their hair out.
