Seems a bit small minded to me.
These messages are useful to inform people events and so on are happening.
To be honest, I think it depends on the content of the message. I don't mind what they contain in general, but something like "Caley Roxors" is hardly complimentary. It has to do with context really - in a forum discussion where people are being humorous, sarcastic leet speak fits in, and people can see why it's being used.
In a game which appears to have a mature community, a new player seeing a message containing 'roxor' being broadcast to everyone could well be put off. Yes, it has a " " at the end - again, taken out of context the player could think the admins are a bunch of drooling fools with their tongues hanging out. Leet speak is horrible (just like using cuz, woz, sez and the rest), and defines a generation of internet-using idiots who would annoy the hell out of you if you met them. Use it out of context, and you're placed into that group of people by many, many internet users. It's the same as walking into a room full of people who don't approve of swearing, and reciting a scene from Pulp Fiction - you will not be liked.
Yes, a bit extreme complaining about something like this - but yes, I see exactly where the original poster is coming from
