The devs think it will bring out new tactics to PvP like using tank and/or using Afflictions but it won't because if they reduce the healing more no team can spare the loss of a healer and it would still be Nuke / Healing only in PvP because if you aint got light armour or a set of amps you ain't no good.
Healing should not be changed nor should nuke they should make melee stronger or make Heavy Armour that aborbs X Damage and/or make Bomb Afflictions. That would inprove the PvP and make you need to use better tactics not remove the healing.

Luck and level pretty much is it and, in large scale PvP the only way to win is to kill the healers and keep them down, somehow. Not an easy prospect with reduced damage and heal being so powerful.
If there's a tactical GOAL such as 'escort this person to here to win' then delaying tactics and unit sacrifices work, but in a straightforward match its majoratively strength, not tactics.

If they raise melee (or any combat skill) then mobs will die faster and we will gain xp even faster. I doubt they want to change this and the only way to keep the xp rate the same is to then make the mobs stronger. In the future, if something else needs balancing then let's make that stronger too and so on and so on.
Also if they raise melee dmg then people will take less hits in pvp to die, but then with our current overpowered healers they'll be easily rezzed again when the healers cycle round to them. This to me is a farce.
I don't understand why people don't see that sometimes the best way to balance things is to reduce their effectiveness. Nevrax have stated that healing was deliberately overpowered after patch 1. We've had Ryzom on easy mode where it comes to healing and hopefully this is going to change. Nerf is not a bad word, it means you've had it easy, make the most of it.
If they halve the healing I'll just use double heal (and need more topping up), or have two healers in the team instead of one. The role of affliction mages will be more important using stun to stop prevent the damage in the 1st place.
I think the intense outpost/pvp testing that has been going on has raised a few balance issues and these suggestions are ways to fix them (I liked the spell resist jewelry even more as a melee'r, wonder if it will deflect the forum flames from all the nukers out there
)
Anyway, in case Nevrax listens to the cry babies threatening to leave over this (unlikely with the increasing number of players) I'm gonna run off and level healing to 250.

well a 250 healer would heal the same as a 185 healer.. even wiht 100/100 amps its to low and im talking about dbl spells=P

Why do they need to make such drastic changes all the time , far better to do it abit at a time rather than a total nerf down to 1/3 strength try it at 2/3 or 4/5 first

I have to agree with boinged although I might not phrase it like that 
People complain that combat in Ryzom lacks tactics and many skills are useless e.g. feints, opportunity attacks, time credits, ranged combat list goes forever. Biggest single reason for this is overpowered healing. You can just use your maximum power attack/spell and count that healer keeps you at full health,sap and stamina. Even dying is no issue as you are up in next second, it is likely that heal spell is already on your way when you go down.
However, mob big criticals should not occur that often if resurrection is made much harder. They should occur sometimes as it adds surprise component to battle, but I feel that now mob criticals occur too often.
Also other point is to cater needs of those who like healing. One big factor in liking healing is the feeling of power when you can keep your team up single handedly. Now, if this feeling is removed by nerfing healing power, it makes significant impact to healers' gaming experience. And with nerfs that impact will be to worse. To counter that, healers should be given goodies to improve their gaming experience if healing power is nerfed.

Heal over Time (link spell) that only drains a low amount to keep the link but automaticaly fills the target when needed would be nice...

at the risk of sounding stupid and uninformed (dont really care; its saturday and i have big hangover) remove double missile, reduce mob critical frequency by 75%. ele and melee relatively balanced, fights will last longer (good imho) and be more tactical, PvP more balanced, um and all the bad things i havent thought about probably

PvP as it is now is fine IMO and im talking as some one that does alot of this with other PvP active Guilds. Unless you have taken part in it alot i dont think you should have a voice in the matter since you arnt able to take into acount both sides of the topic at hand. Tactics scope from target to target marking who heals / who nuke heals / nuke ( we ignore the melees cos there like flys but they do brake your spells which is anoying ) there relly is alot more to it then strengh and numbers. And unless you are willing to give it a few trys you just wont find out. Healing / Rezing in PvP now is fine, its just the melee that needs marking up. Why not, since when ya Ele and PvP it drops to 1/2 DMG, why not just boost the DMG of melee in a PvP Zone / Dule.
I have took part in some great PvP fights in my time and have been killed by better orgnised teams. One time in Nexus there was about 16 of us vs 8 and they cained us about 7-2 but was great fun, some of the fights didnt last long and some lasted ages.
I myself will lose intrest in taking part in PvP if the fights are over to fast due to it then not being about tactics at all and just a rush to do DMG.

my suggestion for pvp is give the fight tree an area-anti-magic aura, so fighters can 'jam' heal spells and nukes..It would make them actively useful, even decisive, in combat. if it stops them being healed by their own team, well thats a factor to consider BY THE PLAYERS, its a choice, not a Papal decree.. but balance the game by giving options, not taking them away
