Mainland Events Broadcast on the Islands

Post by jgehring »

Hello,

First I would like to say what a wonderful game Ryzom is and how much I enjoy my time on Ayts.

I just got to the mainland with my first toon and as I am discovering more new things there I finally found out the answer to a question I had back on Tryker Island.

Messages about an event happening on the mainland was being broadcast on the island also and I had spent over 30 minutes running around on the island, trying to find these places (Windemeer, for instance) where this person with a piece of amber was heading, before giving up the search.

I just would like to suggest that we noobs out on the island really don't need to have that information broadcast to us as we are unable/incapable of joining the event, no matter what the results might be. It was very confusing to be getting these messages and being unable to participate.
I live in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here!

Hi and welcome!

Good suggestion. I agree, MOTD about events shouldn't be broadcast to the training islands.

I quite like the fact that mainland events are broadcast on the 'noob islands'. Maybe a bit of rephrasing would be good, so it was obvious these events were taking place on the mainland tho.
I remember when i was on noob island and wondering when to hit the mainland, an event was broadcast, spurring me to actually make the jump to mainland (refugee races anyone?).
Imo it shows there is more going on than living in an empty world and encourages ppl to come to mainland.

I agree with Seren here. There is actually similar problem if new player is at mainland but event will be at foreing land. It may cause lot of confusion and disappointment. So, some rephrasing server wide spams so that new players will know what is happening more easily.

yeah i enjoyed the events being broadcast when on the island. As u say the first couple had me running around like a headless chicken looking for the kitin invasion's but i soon worked out we were safe from that :)

And knowing that big things are going on is pretty good motivation to sort your stuff out and take that teleport to the mainland..

rewordings work too.

Something like:

"Gladiater event at Windameer, Tryker Mainland, 3pm bst. BYOB"

LOL

Well, leaving the island too soon to try to participate in an event going on at the mainland can cause many people alot of headaches when they can't kill anything because the mobs they used to hunt on the island are now social creatures and if you hit one you get the intire herd.

None-the-less, I think this is the best MMO around and I've been telling all my friends and the people I know from all the other MMO's I've played.

I absolutely love the visual look of Ayts... I love that it still has the feel of a game to it.
