First off, I just signed up for the free trial, downloaded, installed and patched Ryzom. My computer meets all the specs and the required ports are all open.
Now, my problem is that when I go to log into the game I choose my shard and accept the license and then it connects, however after a varying amount of time (anywhere from less than a second to about a minute) it disconnects again!
Anyone know what's wrong?
Connection Problems
Re: Connection Problems
Nah, I'm using a Speedstream router and a different kinda LAN, can't remember what offhand but not a wlan.
Re: Connection Problems
You may have to open/forward the various ports needed to play the game.
There are a number of FAQs right above this post.

So you actually manage to get ingame and then you suddently get a connection error?kageg wrote:however after a varying amount of time (anywhere from less than a second to about a minute) it disconnects again!
Three things you could do:
1. What exactly does happen after character selection? (the more exact the description, the more we can see from it)
2. Check and double-check your open ports and port forwarding rules on your router, as Zerlin said. Remember that SoR uses UDP packets...
3. Take a look at your router, maybe it doesn't recognize the UDP packets SoR utilizes as a connection. Have a look at your router logfile and look for messages indicating a router-side disconnect.
Go forth, live, learn, and most important, live together, not alone, for thou will soon discover there being a great danger, a danger thou never seen afore. The existence of Hominkind is at stake. The Kitin are still on the surface, great numbers of them. Who the Kitin are? Your worst nightmare...

Re: Connection Problems
