Feel free to discuss!Xavier Antoviaque wrote: Daniel Miller, Nevrax's Technical Director and the Producer of the Ryzom Ring (aka R2), wrote an introductory article on the upcoming extension (http://www.ryzom-ring.com/?page=articles&id=820). It gathers the information we have released in various places since the R2 announcement at E3, to give everyone a the same knowledge before starting to address more specific aspects of the project in the next articles.
You will find the article on the Ryzom Ring website, refactored today to give space to the R2 team's articles.

Question:
Do questions about R2 need to be posted in this topic in the Q&A or in a seperate Q&A?

I'm so excited! I love level design, i can't wait to see what kind of power you will give your players!
I know this may be a little early still, but how would a player assure themselves a position into the beta program? Will it be open to everyone, or a certain amount of players? Either way, i want in
I would expect that there are a number of other players that share my enthusiams.
The only question i have related to the article, is about the tools used in the creation of the worlds. Will the 'worlds' be saved on a server that you log into, or kept on the creator's computer? Will other's be able to help in the creation of the worlds, or will it be locked to one player only?
Can't wait to hear more about this!

Answered a few of my questions, so great article. I look forward to seeing the product.
A sugesstion: give R2 its own forum or forum slot. I think you're going to need it.

Re: Ryzom Ring Introduction
Am I missing something? So what if we can make maps, place vegetation and animals all over the place and invite people in? There's plenty of real estate in Ryzom already. Why more of the same?
And if you are going to tell me that it can add clever things like interesting NPC reactions, outpost like structures (that are more than just cosmetic) or maybe even rites/skills/etc then I will believe that when I see them in the game in the first place.
Until Ryzom delivers the loooong advertised 'content', what's the point on a set of tools to add more of what we are limited to at the moment?
Its like trying to sell me a trailer for a car that I bought that the garage has failed to deliver. I mean, the event people had 'new tools' to help them with events months ago and we got all hyped up and then, well, nuffin.
Of course, when Ryzom does what it says it can on the box and if R2 does everything it says on the website then it all sounds great. I like pie yes, but not pie in the sky.
Still, time shall tell, and I shall stick around this great endeavor to see what happens. Fingers crossed!

Re: Ryzom Ring Introduction
This all sounds great.
The fact that we cant creat the landscape is a bit of a shame but that may come in time. A system of jigsaw pieces that we could use to make the landscape would be nice.

Re: Ryzom Ring Introduction
This is looking good! Also, too bad we cannot create our own landscapes, but very understandable.
Now between the lines I read the following:
- You can get some form of reward (as the words preventing exploiting are used)
- You need to be approaved to go public. So all public regions are judged in some way. By whom?
Also to reply to Trenker:
They are making content, but in a different way you might expect. Hard to explain, but I am looking forward to this. If only because anyone complaining bout a lack of content can be forwarded to these tools to create one. And that good scenario's will come up providing that wanted content.
No, this doesnt worry me, apart from pricing and so on.
