Like The Game? Why not vote at MMORPG.com
If you like the game, like i do. Why dont you take a couple moments to vote at MMORPG.com and get the game in the top 5 where it belongs. Its just offpage atm would be nice to see it at the top.
Re: Like The Game? Why not vote at MMORPG.com
Errr .... 'cause MMORPG is full of whining fanbois who can't put a coherent sentence together.
I feel dirty when I go there.

Do we also need to vote against WoW and EQ2 ? as it seems thats all they do over there; they are so hyped for/against specific games that it's a constant flamefest with lines like 'xxx will roxxor yyy' 'xxx is soooo much better than yyy' etc.
Kind of a waste of time; and for the Beta stuff its even worse.

hehe ok ok, the people arent exactly SoR material but.....it is a very important website with a lot of traffic
Re: Like The Game? Why not vote at MMORPG.com
I ilooked at the games and wondered how these ratings were put together. Then I read a few comments and knew I wouldn't take the rating serious. Same is with all the flameboys and -girls on this and the other forums.
Seems some of the major companies (aka SOE, Blizzard, ..) specifically hired people to flame other products constantly. Wonder why they need to do such a thing =)

Re: Like The Game? Why not vote at MMORPG.com
I used to visit MMORPG.com a lot, but for reasons already stated by others I don't go there very much anymore. The point about the flaming etc is well made, it seems that the majority of people there are hooked up on a certain game and spend their time going into the forums of other games and slagging them off for no reason other than it's not 'their' game.
On a sad note I've also seen some former Ryzom beta guys who now seem to feel it's their solemn duty to put the game down at every opportunity just because they don't like it anymore, particularly by posting 'facts' about the game that are completely wrong/out of date and constantly accusing anyone who posts anything positive of being a 'fanboi' (how I hate that word).
The simple fact of the matter is that some people like certain types of games, and other people like other types of games. Posting negative comments about a game that you don't like is at best childish. To offer criticism is one thing, to flame a game just because it's not to your taste is silly, but it seems that sillyness is flavour of the month on that site.
I've seen comments (not just for Ryzom) on their hype meter saying things like 'boring', 'this game suxors' etc. I almost think such things should be deleted, or at least a 'filter out the one word responses' option included.
Feel free to vote for the game of course, but bear in mind that the only way to truly know if a game is for you is to try it. I'll tell you now, if Ryzom hit the top of the chart there, all that will happen is that the whinge brigade will create new accounts in order to push their own favourites back to the top.
MMORPG.com can be a good place to get news, and has some good competitions, but as far as player opinions of games go, I'd take anything I see there with a very large pinch of salt.

Construction vs Destruction.
Destruction RTS:
Warcraft, Command and Conquer, etc...
Construction RTS:
Age of ... , Rise of Nations, etc...
Destruction MMORPG's:
EQ, WOW, etc...
Construction MMORPG's:
UO, Ryzom, etc...

I was reading on the forums there, that some people post to hype a game, and others post to un-hype a game! How can you un-hype? You basically deride the game in front of your peers but it hardly reduces the level of hype. It wouldn't surprise me that a site with such a high profile regarding MMORPG's is used as a propaganda tool by the marketing spods at whatever company.mboeing wrote:Seems some of the major companies (aka SOE, Blizzard, ..) specifically hired people to flame other products constantly. One mans meat is another mans poison.
Youre not really going to get much in the way of truly objective opinions about MMORPG's when the very nature of game often invokes a certain amount of fanaticism. Their rank mechanism smacks of an RPG levelling system that will pander to the 'powerforumers' Seems a bit sad, I have to login there regularly and post 'interesting' comments on their forums in order to raise my rank status to review a game.
I haven't much time to trawl through all the forums for all the games I play, so MMORPG.com is a nice news site, with a directory of MMORPG games in one place, but wading through the opinions on the forums isn't really what I want to be doing with my internet time.
