reboot the system before you play and it will be fine


it happens to me if i use my wireless air card and then try and connect. actually it happens if i play another net aware game and try and play after.

that's the solution tho, reboot before you try and connect and you'll be fine

This has been happening to me also and it's very random and rebooting does not cure it. It just sits there while the last little screen remains grey.

i had this problem as well and after doing a bit of forum digging, i saw a suggestion about it being possibly a sound buffer issue where the game was waiting for sound buffers to clear and when they werent, it would just sit there. so i tried a few things but going into dxdiag and lowering sound acceleration 1 notch surprisingly seemed to fix it for me. ymmv of course. but i figured i should probobly pass this along in case it helps someone out.

ok i think at this point those of us with this problem need to figure out what we all have in common

lets get started with system specs and windows build (get this by going to a command prompt and typing winver)

The majority of times when this happens it is due to character save files that got corrupted due to a client crash (or other reasons.) Try renaming the SAVE folder under the Ryzom game folder to SAVE.OLD and relaunching the game.

ive been plugging away at this issue with zerlin but if any of you are still having this problem i absolutely need to know your system specs at this point. please post them here in this thread

2gb 3200 400mhz
ati X800 aiw 256mb
cat 5.6
creative audigy platinum
onboard realtek rtl8139
xp pro ver. 5.1


This did not happen before the new vid card, was and nvidia fx5600. Would still like to know if it can be fixed, also there seems to be an issue with the gamma. I tab out of game come back and the gamma drops and I have to reset the gamma in game to fix this.

May it be that you have installed ryzom on a network share (which I've done here, running fine since april 2004), or in a folder with special characters?

Double check that you don't have any antivirus/antispyware (or spyware for this matter) that would alter the files ?

Dap did you receive your cd yet and tried a clean reinstall ?

is that realtek disabled? id be curious to know if it still does this with your onboard shut down
