* it should be optional
* it should not be difficult to get
* a nice low level rite (in all 4 capital cities) would be cool (content) and/or a option to buy/get the skill if you are at a certain level of craft?

Oh lookie a thingy, that would go very well with this thingy I have here and the other thingy I found at the uhm thingy near uhm well, that's not important right now. This might make a excellent thingy to hit thingies with :D

Has it been considered to make the signature an additional item that can be added - like adding ammo to a weapon - so you could craft your item, and if you like the outcome, i.e. it's not degraded etc., you can sign it -- if you have learned how to create a signature?

Creating a signature might or might not involve additional raw materials, but I strongly feel that it's something not everyone could do -- a qualified signature also reflects the crafter's renown, nothing a craftsman's apprentice could easily accomplish;
maybe there could be several quality levels for a signature, like:
- sign with your name only
- add a symbol
- add a guild symbol, or a customer-specific signature/symbol
