I'm leaving Ryzom because I've experienced things I can't take any more.
I would like to thank you all for the fun. Below is the letter I'll attact with
my cancellation.

So, I've played this game since January. I like to play,
not just grind and get more and more levels. At the
beginning leveling was interesting but now, as I've choosen
2h sword as my primary skill I feel stuck. Even if I don't
count the weakness of the melee skills, it is very-very
disappointing to have false descriptions on stanzas and
actually nothing works. Long time ago someone said me that
melee is increased damage and accurate attack. I thought
he's wrong, but now I see that he was right. Let me explain:

attack after dodge/parry:

The description simply lies, dodge doesn't increase damage,
parry doesn't make my attack more accurate.

bleeding:

Descrtiption is not understandable. It says ratio 1.2 and
10 secs and __INFLICTED__ damage. Now, my base damage is
428, with inc damage it's 856. Bleeding does 33 hp damage/sec.
What the heck?

aim on bodypart:

I have to use accurate attack with this or I wont hit the mob.
I cant combine aim, acc attack and inc damage, no enough credit
for that. __AND__ it does things only when I have a critical
hit. If I'm lucky that happens once in a fight.

I do not mention the weakness of melees, I think you know
that they suck.



Another thing and this is the one why i've decided to leave.
The zorai kitin nest. With one of my friends I managed to
get up to the kitin larvas and get some of them. Our tactics
is that I run in, I die, my friend heals me, I run 10 m,
I die, etc. If I stay in the range of his heal I can go
to the top. On the top I'm able to dig. There are two ways
the easy way when someone use some ele spells to lure the
mobs away. Till the mobs are trying to get him I have
some time to get the larva. Other way is to dig in heavy
armor and use melee aura, invul, etc.

Now, we've told our guild that we can go up there and we
__PLAYED__ there for a while. Everyone enjoyed that, not
because it's easy (max dp), not because we'r exploiting
but because it's fun.

Today we've asked a GM about this and he/she said that it
is an exploit to use magic through walls. If it is an exploit/bug
why isn't it fixed? Why are the best things taken out of the game?
Does any devs tried to run in a kitin nest. Do they know how it
feels to stay alone at the entrance, take a deep breath and go in?
And now I'm told I can't do it, and now I can't lead ppl in there
and give them the fun because if I do i'm an exploiter. :(

Erm, you seem to have a misconception.
These add points with which you can add more damage/accuracy etc with your usual stanzas.

Bleeding is rubbish, but calculate from the damage after armour. Sounds like its about 10% per tick over 10 ticks, effectively doubling damage over a longwinded fight.

This would be where you'd use attack after dodge/parry/feint.
Also some locations have weaker armour.

There's supposed to be a tweak in the works.

As to the rest... you discovered something you were doing was an exploit and that seems to be your main motivation for leaving?

Sorry, but that doesn't exactly instil fellow feeling or sympathy :/

heya

Attack after parry/dodge is designed as a kinda reward system. If you manage to parry/dodge an enemy attack during a fight you get extra counterparts to spend in your attack. So if you set up a fight stanza to use these, you wont be able to use it until you dodge/parry- but as soon as you do, hit your new stanza and you can hit with a harder hit (if you made it to hit harder).

I hope this is cleared up for you :)

I think the bleeding stanza needs to be altered, i have tried it in PvP- and its stacks really nicely- if you hit your target enough the damage can be very significant.

To Blondy, i think i spoke to you once or twice ingame. Have fun in your next pursuit. Hope to see you back in Atys soon should you choose to :)

Please note, that the GM said that if you cast any spell that goes trough any concrete object - even if you can go around it, say a big rock in the middle of the road - you are in fact using a bug of the game which is not intended and is considered an exploit.

I'd guess 99% of the playerbase has done this at least once, probably much-much more. Should we all be banned or warned?

Another thing: if magic going trough concrete objects - like trees, etc - is a bug and you call using this an exploit, then when in the name of all things holy will you fix it?

Sure, fixing it would make mage's life much-much-much harder and I can uderstand that fixing that now, quite a bit after release isn't a wise business move - 90% of playerbase would prolly quit. If you can't find a proper fix, don't call it an exploit. I can't just put the "it's an exploit" sticker on any bugs i make in my software and be done with it.

It happens all the time. As long as you can select it with the spacebar i can not belief its an exploit. Another thing is when you have to move in to target and then go outside and hit. In FF it happenes many times that your teammate is downhill and out of sight, and you can and you do heal him.

Hmm, but i am to easy on that. I couldnt belief that its an exploit to hunt or heal from the little place in dewdrops too.

Whatever, this letter from Blondie is a sad one. Probably should have slept one night about it...

Calm down a little. I am very sad for you leaving.

There seems to be bug in explanation for Attack after dodge skill. Explanation is for whole action but skill gives only stanza. Attack after parry has perfectly ok explanation.

You should note that most stanzas are sold at trainers as whole ready made actions like "Attack after parry". It has stanza "Opening after parry" and "Accurate attack" in it. So, if you use that action it will hit mobs more easily than normal attack.

If you want to see description for individual stanza like "Opening after parry" you can right click on it at action descrption. So both you and your friend were correct in this case.

Bleeding seems to say max factor 1.2. It does not say explicitly factor 1.2 on inflicted damage. I have not been playing with numbers here but could be that the factor stated here is incorrect if it is always smaller factor than 1.2 on every mob out there.

Aim actions really seem to be expensive compared to their usefulness.

Idea in getting that Kitin Larva is to go with big team to kitin nest and fight way trough it. It is really high lvl endeavour for big group but the reward is the best and rarest material in game. There maybe more sneaky methods for getting that larva based on powers and auras like you mentioned.

Game is not without bugs and the ability to cast trough obstacles is not the first priority think to fix. It may not be even that easy to fix. There has been similar exploits like cliffing where it has been possible to do certain things but action has been considered as exploit. In single player game that would be no problem at all and not in purely PvE game without any competitive elements. SoR has competitve elements in game and will have more in future when outposts come in.

Majority of players do not like that some people use bugs in game for their advantage as it would be unfair for majority who uses normal means to get certain reward. Thus, using exploits must not be allowed. Bugs that allow exploits should be eventually fixed, there I agree.

If you do something that is considered as exploit without knowing this or even by mistake and that is noticed, you will be told that it is not allowed behaviour. Of course, if you will continue to do that you will be eventually warned or even banned in seruous cases.

Hope you will reconsider but if not I hope you all well in future.

I'm gonna miss you Blondy, even though we didnt actually get to talk much after the Chariot. I wish you all the luck in the future and in whatever game you plan on conquering next. ;)

in regards to bleed: i have no idea what the rate means, but we have tested it for a bit, what it efefctively does is this:
it takes the damage you have done and applies exactly the same number again over a certain amount of time(about a minute)
this means that with inc damage you can get four times the damage of a normal strike if the fight lasts long enough
also the bleeds stack up, so you don't have to wait till one runs out

all in all it's pretty nice, as long as you know how to use it

Hey Blondy ;)

haven't talked with u much since the days of the Chariot, but Mabus got me to make u a load of supreme white light armor, hope u had fun with it :)

only comment about the kitin nests, forget about the wall thing i reckon every single player has thrown a spell through a wall or been healed through one. it's not something i can see changing anytime soon and they cant ban all of us.. have got to the top of the desertstock nest once. was with about 35 lv250 people so i was the baby along for a bit of healing, grats for doing it with two of u =)

take care, have fun in your next game or whatever u r doing next. look back at the good bits not the things that p1ssed u off, and maybe we meet again one day

I almost feel guilty for suggesting our way of getting kitin larva might be an exploit. While on the subject I'd say fixing the "cast through solid objects" probably would be a big mistake since it would make life a lot harder. On trips to other lands it's not uncommon to rezz people from around a corner if healers would have needed a clear line of sight it would be a lot harder to get new players to other lands...
