Fyros - Seems to have the least whingers, people complaining about stuff in the game, everyone is happy to help.

On the NA server, I would have to whole heartedly agree with Fyros. I like that the newb region players are willing to help one another out, work together on things and the prices on materials, crafted items and other things is just MUCH saner than in other racial markets (the gear in Matis territories was, on some items, almost TWICE as expensive as Fyros, and while I agree that harvesting IS much harder, I don't think it is worth THAT much more in a price increase).
Now I might, no probably WILL gain some enemies with this comment, but I also noticed that the Fyros newbie region also had more mature players, and fewer whiners or beggers than any other region I have been in so far.
Heck the ONE time I logged into the Zori region someone Chasticed me for talking about the real world...Of ALL the gall!! And since the welcomer mission is busted, and I HATE the masks, I just logged off and deleted that character.
In Matis territory there were players talking about other games, criticizing this one and whining about NO non concentual PVP in game. It got SO annoying, on top of the CRAPPY visual clues for harvesting, that I logged off until those kids went to bed.
To me, the community of a game is MUCH more important than everything except for in game lag.

that could mean that matis are one of the most popular races then. just like in lineage 2, if you wanted to hear a bunch of kids and idiots gather you'll most likely find them in the dark elf community.
but i agree, fryos is a pretty helpful group. zorai isn't too bad either. i have tried tryker yet.

I must agree I find that Matis who are very appealing in there history as they are the ones who caused the oopsie that is now taking place are full of the phat l33ters and just all around boogerie players, but once the Dev team introduces racial restrictions this may change...*crosses fingers*.
I also think that once players really start to populate the main lands the amount of big fishes in little ponds will deminish and we will start to see more and more players who are commited to actually playing for the game rather than looking for a Doom or Final Fantacy replacement...*again crosses fingers*.

I'll do a bit of defense of the Matis community. When I started last week on teh newbie island, people were very helpful. Most of these were beta players who shared their knowledge freely.
I will be the first to agree that there are a few bad apples running around in Matis who kind of put me off, but as a whole I have to say the entire game community of Ryzom is mature and friendly.

Also in defense of Matis: My girlfriend and I started as trykers and played them to around 40-ish. We had good experiences with a helpful community in the newb island and on the mainland. However, we rerolled matis a couple days ago because I didn't want us to hit the wall trykers now face because of no mats over 50.
As Matis, we've found the community there to be *very* helpful and friendly, perhaps more so than the trykers. The several crafters we've dealt with have been extremely helpful, friendly, and offered better terms for crafted gear than we found in the tryker lands. Heck, when I had two sets of "modi" medium armor (the skill 50 patterns that look shiny and cool) made for us, I got most of it for free simply because I handed over a large number of kipee drops to get the colors we wanted. Even though the crafter still had to supply lining mats on her own for all the armor pieces.
Anyway, just saying that the matis community I've experienced is at least as nice as the tryker community, if not nicer.
By contrast, when I played around with a Fyros newb to about level 25, the Fyros newbland was eerily silent when I'd attempt to chat or ask whether crafters were online, etc. Also the Fyros newbland was eerily vacant compared to the tryker and matis nooblands. Matis noobland has by far been the most crowded so far.

Matis has enjoyed a large number of players that have secured a high availability of all types of players. The crafters are plentiful, and the lands are fun and exciting to explore. We at Minyatur welcome everyone to come check out our wonderful home and enjoy what it has to offer. You will find freindly people and helpful guilds to spend your time with.

I have had a few real life commitments this week, so I have not been able to be in game as much as I would like to have been. But on the weekend I was able to be online, and the chat during prime time in Fyros newb land was lively (if NOT in a role play mode, LOL). And there were at least ten players in and around Fyros lands.
As to the landscape, it is part of what makes foraging in Fyros lands SO effortless(for me at least). YOu can TELL landmarks, and see the visual clues to point you to a node. In Matis lands...I have YET to find anything that makes sense about WHERE to find a node.
True it could have been a "bad night" for both of us, in each of the regions, and I will likely try the Matis again...once they get a foraging clue in game and the Ubber Leeters have moved on to EQ2.
Sorry but that night there was a debate in regional chat about using curse words in game. Free speachers on one side and the other side almost fundamentalist in their Christian views (which why a Fundamentalist Christian would play this game is beyond me...but to each their own). It was clear after about a minute that neither side was going to bend in ANY way, and it deteriorated into a name calling spree. I turned OFF region for about an hour, and then when I was in town training, I still saw the chat bubbles overheads on the SAME subject. It was tedious to say the least.

I have not noticed any difference in attitudes with any of the characters I've played. Almost everyone I've met has been helpful and kind... and funny, too!
I played Matis in beta and have leveled a Tryker and Fyros since release. Sure, I've seen some people act a bit stroppy or immature but in all area's of the game. I've made more friends and received more good information from Trykers but only, perhaps, because I've spent more time there. The vast majority of the people I've encountered in this game have been very, very friendly. In fact, I don't remember any game having such a mature and friendly community in game or on the boards. I'd be more inclined to believe it's the lack of opportunity to rpk than the race people have chosen.
In Lineage2 there seemed to be more problems in the Orc and Dark Elf areas, in Shadowbane it was the Shades and Minotaurs, and the thief class. There was free PvP in both games. While I may believe that people interested in griefing or annoying others would choose an 'evil' race to do it with, Ryzom really doesn't have an 'evil' race and nearly everyone I've met seems to be in good humour while playing. (although the wretched lag does draw some critical comments now and then)
