After finding out about last nights "secret meeting" an official event in which certain players were asked to take part I am done with this game.
Since the start of this game. I have been patient with the lack of updates, patient with the lack of invasions and events, patient with the COMPLETE lack of story in the game. But having events that involve certain players goes to far. This is the straw that broke the camels back.
I am cancelling my subscription and will not be back.
Thank you Nevrax for giving someone like me, a long time supporter of the game, the finger event and content wise.
No more, I am done...
Re: No more, I am done...
Well we havent always seen eye to eye, but i've respected you a helluva lot since you talked to one of my newb alts in pyr; so i'll be sad to see you go
Seems this event has killed off two long-time players already; I just hope it doesn't kill off anymore with its consequences

Re: No more, I am done...
Thats a slightly childish atitude to take, and from what i heard the invites where random, i got one but only one other person i knew got one.
To quit ryzom about something as small as this is just stupid, and as far as i know the directors of ryzom didnt sit together and create a party invite list and didnt include you, i dont think Nevrax are to blame more the few people sending out invites.
Just my thoughts, i hope you all the best in what you should choice to do.

Re: No more, I am done...
I completely agree that the invite only event was a very bad thing. I wasn't invited but I heard about it so I showed up anyway.
The storyline needs to be available to everyone, not a select few.
It seems like every time a new event happens, they take things further into the wrong direction. They need to seriously turn things around and start putting the storyline into the game mechanics.
I'm sorry to see your excitement from E3 completely doused by this latest event. Good luck in wherever you land.

Re: No more, I am done...
The event itself was "non-consequential" at best. There was an attempt to drive a story line, similar to the pre-Kitin invasion meeting where the Watcher was introduced. We are remember the uproar over that one? How dare the devs hold a meeting in Pyr where only a few high level players or Fyrosians could attend! Then in the end there was a huge drive to get players to Pyr and then when it happened it was a mess none-the-less.
We blast them (the devs) when they introduce story-line via the forums or the web. We blast them for using GM's to introduce story in mini-events that don't happen at the right time or with the right amount of publicity or creativity or other factors to maximize draw. Granted its been suggested that NPC's take this charge... we know they can 'cause they have been used for such a purpose, limitly. We asked for an universal channel, which we know that they can do, cause they used it during the contest.
I'm not happy with the event myself but its far from the final straw. I would think the "The story has just begun" video would have been the final straw (yes it was cool but where was the game??). But I'm gonna stay and see what happens.

I'm sorry to see you go, and I wish you good luck with your new projets. Although you state your opinions sometimes a bit too directly, I, for one, know you care about the game, you like to RP, you read the lore and you are a player with charisma.raynes wrote:After finding out about last nights "secret meeting" an official event in which certain players were asked to take part I am done with this game.
Regarding this last event, which I learnt about yesterday, and no, I wasn't invited either (I am not an 'influential' homin, I guess). Well, my opinion:
* Yes, secretive events may not be the best option, but I understand their view, and I understand yours. It seems to me that they wanted to start a line of events, involving the guild of Elias, and this guild is supposed to be secretive. They want to have a 'secretive' meeting and they *sample* *pick* some homins from the server, nothing personal. it looks like some GM or guide had played the spy thing, and she had contacted a few homins. Well, a "sample", I'd say. Maybe next time she'll contact me (quite difficult, I'm in PR digging most of the time)
* No, you weren't invited, me neither, as a lot of players. It is not that they didn't want *you* in the event, it's just that they didn't pick you.
Re: No more, I am done...
The nature of the event was to get some people who know people to talk to their friends and tell them of dangerous times ahead.
It is one of the way's to get information out. I think you are overreacting a bit.
Sorry to see you leave tho

Re: No more, I am done...
Oh screw it, I'm going to say it.
Raynes, in this instance, you're being a bit of a pr*ck.
You cannot and should not expect every event to include everyone, OK, I WAS included but would I be throwing a p*ss-fit if I hadn't been?
No.
Because the event and the news unfolds BETTER like this.
We had the spies, coming to the lands, seeking out homin to tell the news, sending out feelers.
It is CONTINUITY in the event to have the people they contacted be invited.
It is better, for roleplay and to make us a part of things to have us spread the word of what we heard.
I saw more and better roleplay EVERYWHERE in the aftermath of that event than I have seen in months. MONTHS.
And what makes me angry? Not that they had an 'exclusive' event but that two people who have a massive amount of respect in the game and who I regarded as good roleplayers have disappointed me by acting like petulant children, throwing their toys out the pram, taking their ball and going home.

Re: No more, I am done...
Well I hate to say it Jy, but no one who was there has actually given us any definitive statement of what happened apart fromgrimjim wrote:Because the event and the news unfolds BETTER like this.
personA: "Jena is coming with the karavan to kill us all"
personB: "They said 'celestial legions', might not be the kara but who else could it be"
personC: "Jena loves us! They're lying!"
(and yes, I'm referring to on the forums where people like me can read without going ingame)
Re: No more, I am done...
and the question that arises is: "are you quitting because it was not an open to everyone event or because they didn't invite you?"
