a little side note:

I dont post much in here, but I'm reading this forum since Sep 2004.

The only reason I started to read this thread (it was 9 or 10 pages long when I spotted it first) was, that the last few comments were quite constructive and gave a good brief overview of what I could expect form it.

After reading these 10 pages, I'm glad that some time has passed and the week end is closer. I doubt that all this will change something.

[LOOP]

someone complains (over and over again)
sombody else complains about the complaining
another one points to the good things in this game

If any of you have worked, or are currently working in marketing, you'd know something about word of mouth marketing and how powerful this can be. You'd also know that general bad remarks and/or reviews drive away more people than positive can generate. The thumb-rule for this is that if you make a positive remark about a product or service to ten people, perhaps two of them will try it out. If you however, in the same setting, make a bad remark, it's likely that nine out of ten will never try the product/service you're commenting on.

I feel it has come to this here. The general bad mood in the forums lately are really strong contributing factor to people departing or not joining, and I'm on the brink of taking an extended break as well. The community has changed alot, people are really concerned, and alot of people have just silently drifted away. To tell you the truth; it's just not fun to log on anymore. I always get the feeling that something is wrong, and it is. I constantly go around with a sense of worry in me, and quite frankly, I hate it. When I talk to people in game, it's always the same old thing. "Did you read the forums today?"
The stuff you're posting here are not helping! Please realize that! You might think that you are, but you are da*n wrong. Constructive critisicm on the other hand does. Send in a ticket! I know it sounds stupid, but please don't push your dissatisfactions on to me, because quite frankly, they are heavy to carry, and I am sure alot of people feel the same way. You're actually reaching out to people, use that positively. Reach out to new players and make them stay instead of driving the people in your contact lists away.

I know you can't be blaimed for everything, but remember that every little thing counts. Bad remarks drive people away. Bad remarks makes people who would've loved this game, never try it!

Nevrax is trying, they really are. They're not sitting on their fat bums eating pie. When you have fundamental flaws in the code, it takes alot of time to correct them. Yeah, I know they shouldn't have been there in the first place, but please accept for one second that they are, and realize that they are being fixed!

The only thing that keeps me in game now are my beloved guildies, my fiancé Phantai, and my good friend Ali who shines up Lost Valley with his presence. If one of these people leave, I will most certainly pick up another hobby.

If you think complaints on a MMO's forum are the reason why someone won't play a game, then you have a very limited view of MMO's. This game isn't pulling in new people because it offers very little outside of leveling at this point in time. Some people will scream and yell about that comment but that is what the common MMO player sees with this game. Until they fix that this game will never take off.

Absolute rubbish!

How long have you been playing this game?
When you started playing it, did you hold the opinion that it was a grind and contentless?

My good friend BorgUK, played the 'contentless ryzom' for well over 6 months and the 'content packed' WoW for 3 months .... before reaching the exact same conclusion he always does .... 'time for a new game'.

This game is not 'contentless' its packed to the roof with 'player content' and 'discovery content'. I personally feel your complaint is the game does contain the 'content' you want or in the form you would like it to be.

The "common MMO player" subcribes, consumes and leaves. Some of them consume 2 or 3 MMOs at once. Most of the ppl in the MMO biz know this. So why even care for long or even very long term motivation / content ? Its about making the game hard/long enough to keep them playing until profit is made. Meanwhile the next game is developed and ready to release.

If Nevrax would have stuff that is ready to publish, they would do for sure. And nothing does change this. No demanding, no crticising, no ranting, nothing.
Ryzom will not do what you call "take off". But Ryzom might probably survive long enough to enable Nevrax developing a very new game. The strategie of releasing modified developer tools for the Ryzom Ring is imho a very good decission. A good and a brave one, cause its based on its playerbase.
