Not nice download

Wow, I have never had so much trouble with a download. I have now attempted to download the full Ryzom game for the 14 day free trial, three times. Each time taking around 4 - 5 hours. The people on Klients have been very kind in trying to help me, but to no avail.

My first download was with internet explorer and it seemed to work. I opened up the instalation program and in ran smoothly almost all the way to the end, but then when it attempted to extract "zorai_zones.bnp" it stopped and said there was a corrupt file and an unexpected end to archive. It stated to simply download a fresh copy and start again. ooooo sounds like fun........

For my second attempt i downloaded firefox and smartftp. smartFTP would not open the Ryzom download URL so that was canned right off the bat. So then I try firefox. It looks like a good downloader and so i cross my fingers for another 5 hours. Everything seemed to go smoothly once again. But then nothing that I downloaded would open. The guys on Klients said that my virus scan was probably still scanning the download and that this could take quite awhile. I did not time it but id say I waited 45 mins to an hour for the scan to complete itself. Nothing happened. So i pressed cancel on the download to see what would happen and it canceled. lol. I then pressed the retry button and the download was complete in about 5 secs tops. Hooray! ........ The installer did not even extract two things before there was a corupt file........

For my third try I attempted to just leave my comp on all night and let the download run its course for about 8 hours. I woke up and turned on my monitor. Everyhting seemed in order and the download actually said that it was complete this time. I ran the installer. It went through extremely fast, so i said uh oh, and sure enougg there was a corrupt file after about 30 secs......................

I dont think theres anything wrong with the Ryzom install you get from www.ryzom.com. I think that you might have physical memory that might be corrupt, and when certain areas of the memory is used the data becomes bad.

You could try to download the installer from other places too: fileplanet (choose the digital purchase as it seems to be new'er). You could try to seach for Ryzom download trial in google.. it might come up with some spots too. Some sites have the verrsion 1.1 file shared, but using it will just have you patch chapter 2 on top of it (around 200 mb).

i used "fresh-download" manager...and "truedownloader"-manager...

iam not sure what the problem was....but i can say that i never got corrupt downloads with my fresh download manager...and i used it for alot of downloads.

i tried it last night ...for a last chance before i give up....and i was lucky ...it worked..
