How do I find NPCs?

Post by osinaki »

I've just progressed to Pyr and started a mission to find an NPC. The city seems so huge, though, and I can't find who I'm looking for.

Is there a way to do this, or just walk around and continue to explore?

BTW, my mission is to deliver a report to someone so I can get my first knowledge cube.

Thanks, great game so far, besides my current frustration.

If you'd like your search narrowed down considerably, look up the NPC's here:

http://ryzom.raum.com/

That site is one of the top two ryzom resources, and the other is:

http://ballisticmystix.com

...of the two, I think the raum NPC database is more complete. Cheers, bright blessings, and have fun

Most of us (probably all) hate those delivery missions also. Expecially the Pyr one.

But it's not that bad once you realize something, at least for me. None of those NPCs you need to deliver to are in the city.

I spend 4 days running around inside Pyr looking for those NPCs (I grabbed all the missions just for the heck of it), and got really frustrated.

Then I happened to find one outside of Pyr and realized something, Imperial Dune refers to the entire region, not just the city Pyr. HA.

Anyhow, for the NPCs in Imperial Dunes you are suppose to deliver messages to, a lot of them can be find outside and around the south entrance of Pyr, and around or in the Leviers Camp to the north of Pyr.

Hope that helps :)

NPC & mission mat finding tasks should have more detailed descriptions. Task description could refer to places like "Around fourways", "Northern Imperial Dunes" or "Near Levier's camp".

Now those tasks are pretty annoying many times.

Descriptions should have NPC's title too. Now it is quite boring to check each office in town to find a NPC with correct name.

If you do the 'welcome' mission for the The Chest of Wisdom - Amber Cubes rite
the NPCs are selectable in the compass. If you do that, you will get a pink triangle that points in the direction of the target, and you see the distance to the target as well.

This is true for all NPCs directly involved in the rite.

If I search NPCs outside the villages I set the compass to the 250m radius and then check every white dot.

Sometimes when I'm wandering around and see an NPC I add a landmark to my map. They tend to move though (seasonal maybe?) so it's only a rough indication. If you're going to repeatedly do a mission to gain fame then it makes sense to bookmark the NPCs involved anyway.

Another tip is to have your radar zoomed right out and look for white dots. The two site mentioned are really useful though, I use them if the above methods don't work.
