Allo Allo :)

I'd like to give you a warm welcome to Atys!

Remember, for now you're just on the training island.
As you progress and adapt you'll understand much more.
There's a far distance to travel from level 1 to multiple level 250s ;)

If your ever in need of assistance there's always players that are more than welcome to help answer any questions you may have.

Just shout out (I'm not sure how populated the training islands are these days, but I know on the mainland population isn't usually an issue anymore) or take down some names of those who've been helpful.
You can send them a /tell or in game emails ;)

If I can be of any assitance in this area, feel free to add me to that helpful list.

I hope you have a wunderful day/night!
Be sweet and Be Safe,
Enfinity/Enfiniti

I'm new too, and really lost and frustrated right now. I don't know if it's just me, but the tutorials are really terrible.

Yah, tutorial definitely could use a rework. But no worries, we are here to help!

My first gripe is--the whole "skill point" thing when you want to train until to a new skill. WHERE do I find it in my myriad information windows?

Hit 'P' to bring up your personal attributes. There you'll be able to see your skill points available to use, set your title to the role you want people to see you as, see your hp/sap/stam/focus and regen stats, etc.

The 'A' button will bring up the Action Progress window, these are your skill trees, you can see what lvl they are in this window. Selecting the windows will have the list of skills you can get for that level on the right.

You close these windows by hitting the same key. Be warned here, sometimes, especially at first, you will be trying to chat and end up closing all the windows. Heck, even I still do this once in a while, but I have all the windows hotkey memorized so it's not too much of a problem for me. But for you, first try to retype what you jsut tried to type to see if you can get the windows back. If you still are missing windows, hit the 'K' key to bring up the list of keys. You can also rebind your keys here.

Also know that you're allow up to 4 interface layouts configuration, by hitting F1-F4. To save your current layout to an F key, hit ctrl and the key to save to. E.G ctrl F2.

For skil points, the rules is that evry time you dinged (lvl up) a skill, you get 10 skill points for that skill. E.G if you dinged harvesting, you get 10 harvesting skill points, dinged offensive magic, you get 10 magic skill points.

Then deciding on actions and which ones to take. I'm trying to do foraging, but the explanations aren't worth much. I think I just wasted a bunch of skill points on useless stuff, especially since I'm using them and can't figure out what they do.

The foraging stanzas and skills are a bit intimidating at first, and there are a few redudant one that you probably won't ever need to get.

Just know that it's ok if you think you wasted some skill points, there're plenty to go around by leveling another skill trees later on when you get to higher level (thes tree splits into specialization branches after a certain level).

Secondly, I was getting so frustrated with the "tutorial" area that I teleported and now I'm in Zora now, and there's no one here. No. One. And I have very poor skills, and I can't figure out now how one would train them up. Do trainers cost money? Where can I find someone to help me out?

I'm thinking about starting over again and redoing my character and training to level 20 before I leave the beginning place again. But it still doesn't fix the fact that I don't understand how the skill points work, nor how to pick out my next skills!

Doh. Zorai is probably not the best choice for beginners, because their population are always much smaller than the other 3 races, and most of the oldies are probably out deeper in the jungle. If you want to redo, Matis is the most populated, then Fyros, then Tryker, and last Zorai, in term of population.

The trainers in Zora are in a little pit in the middle of the city, near the Kami altar and stable. It's like a stage that sink into the ground. You can see 4 "drive-thru" windows like thing, the trainers are hiding in them.

There are 4 types of trainers:

Fighter
Magic
Harvest
Craft

You start with the basic skills for each trees. Once you leveled up and obtained skill points in a tree, say the Fight tree from meleeing, then you can purchase skills from the Fighter to use. The best one to get for meleeing is Increase Damage at first, then Accurate Attack if you find yourself missing too often.

To combine both skills, you can edit one of your Attack skill and add the AA and ID options. Note that you'll need to increase the hp and stam credits to compensate for this.

Edit: I restarted and I get the Skill Points--you get 10 after you level up. I think it's one of those things that's so simple, everyone knows it, so they don't bother to put it in the tutorial. Unless it was there and I'm just silly and not finding it. Also, I'm not as frustrated. I'm out killin mektaubs and javings. Mwahahaha

Don't worry, we all think the tutorial is crap. Hope you didn't get too frustrated with it, and is having fun.

Cheers Arakknya! Maybe see you in game.

Uhoh. I did restart, and now I'm pretty far along (well, ok, what I consider "far along"). Do you think it's worth redoing 3 hours of work to be on one of the more populated places? Can we travel and interact with other races, like, more populated places?

I picked the Zorai based on the description and the storyline. Does the story come into play in this game??

--Arakknya

P.S. Another question--How do you put together your own actions based on the stanzas that you have? I haven't been able to figure that out.

Currently, the story doesn't come into play really. There's no significant difference in the races when it comes to gameplay as it stands right now. That may change quite a bit over the next 6 months as they get to adding the new features.

To edit an action, right click on the action on your hands bar and pick "edit action". To create a new one from scratch, click on an empty slot and pick "new action".

Actions are made up of stanzas. For example, you could make a fight action that had an "increased damage" stanza and an "accurate attack" stanza. Each stanza that gives a positive effect to the action has a "cost" associated with it. For example, the cost of the increased damage stanza might be 10 and the cost of the accurate attack stanza might be 20 (this all depends on the stanza and the level of that stanza, these numbers are just for example).

That means the total cost of this action would be 30. To pay for that cost, you use "credit" stanzas. Credit stanzas pay for the cost of actions in several ways:

-HP/Stamina/Sap/Focus usage
-Casting time (spells)
-Casting range (spells)
-After dodge/critical hit/parry/feint (for melee actions).

So to pay for your fight action that cost 30, you could use a HP credit stanza with a credit value of 10 and a Stamina credit with a value of 20. The total cost of the credits has to be equal to or greather than the cost of the action in order to use it.

When you first start out, you don't really have too many options as you don't have many stanzas available. So if you've just trained in one or two fight actions or spells, you might not really have any customization you can do.

But as you get higher level actions, you'll get more stanzas and more levels to those stanzas that you can pick and choose from. Also, you can train in several of the "credit" stanzas directly. Like at the fighter trainer you can train in the HP credit stanza which will allow you to use HP to help pay for fight actions instead of only using stamina.

Now I´m "in love" with my third Charakter and going to stick with it ´tll the End!

Ah, and we´re always "gentle" around here.
I must say that SoR has the friendliest Community I´ve experienced so far.

There is no limitations to interaction with other races. You can even move to other race's lands and adapt to their life style if you like. Only challange is the initial trip to new lands as travel routes go trought dangerous areas. After you have finished the initial journey, you can use teleportation services between these places for a fee.

Usually, these trips are made in big teams or even multiple teams to counter dangers of the journey. There should be trips quite often and people like trips so there should be lots of participants. I participated to a trip from zorai to tryker last night and that was a worthty adventure :)

If you open up your map, Cities of Intuition is the region you'll want to stick to at first. That the L0-50 region. Be careful when leaving Zora. If you go out the wrong gate, you'll end up in Knot of Dementia or Haven of Purity, both higher level regions where you'll probably die quick :)

Of course, you can always try sneaking through those regions to explore the land, if that's your cup of tea.
