I'm surprised....

Post by trigem »

EDIT: Sorry, false alarm! Just a minor bug with amps.

no one has noticed or mentioned the stealth nerf to elemental magic.

I didn't play around with it much after noticing the damage (at lvl 200) was cut by more than half and the fail rate was increased.

I will continue to do more testing with other racial magics.

I'm not going to rant on Jessica Mulligan and the way she handled AC2 but let us hope the same thing doesn't happen here.

As far as I was aware, there is no stealth in this game (or at least shouldn't be).

Turns out I was grinding elem the night before the patch and the last night in almost the same conditions. The only change is that I just hit 185, so I upgraded my spell to lvl 200 just before the patch. Post patch, the dmg increased exactly as I would have expected. No nerf at all. I was maxing at about 1000 dmg per spell (2k total if both hit on a double spell) before the patch. I'm not maxing at 1200 per spell now and hitting just as often.

So, I'm not seeing what you're reporting and I think I would have considering what I was working.

This is using poison exclusively. Against Slaveni's, I don't have time to waste on less efficient spells, so I always use poison in GoC.

I have done ele before and after the patch with the same spells and have not noticed a difference, But I will say that I was not paying much attention to it. Guess I will need to try this out.

My primary skill is e.magic.
As DP was abundant last night, I had several chances to use it.
I didn't notice any difference in dammage.

Perhaps your amps broke?

Elem. magic working same as before for me too.
There might be an increase/difference in resistances maybe?

And what a balanced design that was in the beggining... C'mon, the sucessive skills reset destroyed and sense of character, but on the other had when i left it was like 100% more balanced than the sage/tank everybody used.

EDIT: seems the storm ended with a breeze...

Damn, you got my hopes up there that magicians had been made sane and melee's had a real role again.

Curse you!

Sorry, I was too quick at playing the nerf card earlier after getting many resists, only 700 dmg out of the normal 1200 dmg when a spell hit, and encountering failed incantations when I never had a problem before.

After removing amps and re-equipping them the problem was solved.
