OK Devs & Fellow Players, I'm here for 14 days, talk to me

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Not sure about the original poster but I am certainly a newbie to this game.

Many thanks for all the very rapid replies.... I'll be seeing you all on the English speaking server just as soon as feel confident enough to make it off newbiw island :-)

maybe is just my paranoia but sounds to me like an old player with a trial account who wants to stir someting.
If i'm wrong, please accept my apologies.
If i'm right, please take the thread and stick it where the sun can't reach you.
Ha ha ha,

Now I like this person already. Nope I am genuinely a new player but got so horribly shafted by the SWG experience that I figured I'd ask some down and dirty questions straight off the bat to find out about the community as they ARE THE GAME.

Thanks for all of your replies, I'm very encouraged by what I have read and have turned on 2 other friends to the free download so we are all going to try it together.

The Ryzom ring sounds fascinating, now that really does seem like a ground-breaking design element, I wonder if you will be able to model your own objects?

Any hooo, I'll look forward to seeing you all in game and I'll save an extra special /slap around the head for vutescu

Well, good to see you like the responses.

Another thing, it could be good to let the people here know what your ingame name is and what race you've taken ..

Judging from your replies and your "style" I bet you took Matis (not that you have to :D ) .. so my money is on that!

I downloaded the game last night but didn't get to jump in yet, so I've got all the fun of Chracter Creation ahead yet.

I'm typically a hunter/looter who earns their living from selling loot and trading favors with skilled crafters - I like the hunt and thrill of finding 'the good stuff' to bring back to a friend/guildie who can craft something nice for us both.

I'm a casual player and prefer small groups to adventure with. I like fun players who are passionate about what they do but aren't L337 Boi's'

Well if you decide to go Matis race, when you get in game type

/who

and you'll see who is there on the island with you. If you see Amulek, one of my characters that I've been experimenting on matis island, I'd be more than happy to give you some tips. Just ask in region chat, or type

/tell [name] [message]

so to talk to me you would type:

/tell Amulek blah, blah blah, blah

hope to see yo ingame.

I can be a little difficult to make money only hunting in the early game but I managed by selling everything to players and not vendor. It's amazing the stuff people will buy if you set a good price. And folks will help you out...I've actually been looking for an excuse to roll a new char. I'd be willing to join you guys on a newb island and show you around some.

Ahh that's a really great offer, seems like I may well have found a new way to spend my valuable gaming hours here he he.

Well I'll get set up tonight and let you guys know my in-game name and race.

Hmmm, in my experience interpersonal relations usually go like this between the races;

1/ Fyrosians tease Trykers for being short.
2/ Trykers tease Fyrosians for being ugly,... and stupid,... and smelly.
3/ Fyrosians and Trykers stand shoulder to shoulder (um, I mean shoulder to waist) and tease the Matisians for their unhealthy pallor and general arrogance.
4/ Matisians vary from pretending not to care what the "lesser races" think, too trying to convince the Fyrosians and Trykers that pale skin is "actually very fashionable, and a sign of beauty".
5/ None of the other races tease the Zorai much, even though they're blue and wear permanent masks... It would be far too easy, and the Zorai usually have their heads so far up in the clouds they wouldn't notice anyway.
6/ The Zorai are far too serious to even think of teasing the other races.

I hope that'll be some help to you in choosing a race :)

If you join the Matis island, look for Valeriana or Sophy. They can give you some general pointers and Val might have you help her with a mission, which can be rewarded with equipment, dappers and knowledge.
