I personally am in full support of the position taken, which I see as follows:

If they know there is a problem they don't 'Patch and be dammed'.
If there are problems found after patch, which should be few and far between if this processes is follows. We know they did everything they could and sometimes things just get through the net.

I hope that the new patch is supported with some detailed notes, I did however enjoy the 'whats extra game' :P

So what do you think?

test, delay if needed. everytime =)

i do find it a little odd that they find such a serious problem at the 11th hour. u'd think after announcing a patch that all the testing had been completed..

Come on, there is no question. Decision was right.

However, someone in chain requires whipping. Or maybe that person / role is missing in the Nevrax organization or process. There has been too many postpones, delays and so on.

I say Jessica should look into this issue and make corrective changes to procedures and let us know what it was and what was done.

I guess she must be already on that :)

I agree with the fully tested bit, but I think more effort needs to be put into this process to get us back into a regular patchschedule as much as possible. Stop worrying and conjecturing about the ring and other things and put the available resources into fixing what we have, ie Rites and what we should have had ie outposts and more invasion events.

Patch once and patch right!

I once was tester in a company that made some changes to the interface. All main processes were okee. So I ventured deeper int other screens and functions. I found a piece of the software that stopped functioning and made the application freeze everytime, thanks to the interface changes elsewhere....

So they were fixed, the NB worked fine. The was one day before the upgrade would go live. The day the upgrade was compiled and made into an installation I did a last check, two hours till upload to go. And I'll be damned, there it was again.

So I snapped and started shouting at my boss, the devs and the CEO. Turned out the changes weren't checked in for putting into the install and the dev who did this had a day off. Later, when we discussed the way this could get like this, we came to the following errors:
- The dev that worked on this major piece of the upgrade should not have been granted the day off.
- Before compiling and building an installation, all sources should be checked in or at least the ones that were part of the upgrade.
- No shouting at anyone. Bad form.

The bad upgrade went live, with a minor fix patch two days later that included the freezefix.

Software patches and upgrades can come from any source or reason, the way they are handled different by any organization. I think Nevrax made very few mistakes on this one, not on the delay and not on the communications about it.

. Titles are now granted at the beginning of a branch tree (51 instead of 50 for example) except at 250. If you are at a such a level (like 20) you will lose your title until the next level.
